Here's the plan 1) you drive to your country's biggest national park without any water or food 2) park your car near to the national park 3) walk 20km to a suitable location, don't look at map or cellphone on the way there so you don't know the way back 4) if there's still power in your cellphone when you've reached your destination destroy your phone so you can't call for help 4) build your tent, and then just do voluntary stopping of eating and drinking. 5) If possible, use some pain medicine like cannabis, ketamine or oxycodone. Although I've read that taking ketamine might be bad for your bladder if you're thirsty, but who knows.
If you do it this way, you precommit by following this plan because you don't know the way back to your car and you can't call for help - so you don't have to care about your survival instinct. And if you do it in the winter you can't even drink from rivers or lakes.
I've read on the internet that voluntary stopping of eating and drinking is peaceful once the sensation of thirst passes.
I'm not yet sure if this is preferable to full suspension hanging with pain medicine, but somehow I like this one more.
