A question no one can answer but only wonder.
Me personally? ... I'll still 'live' on in some sort of way.
I don't believe 'death' is the end of ones existence.

When Socrates was sentenced to death he said he wasn't afraid of dying because the afterlife would be one of two things: peaceful and eternal slumber or a place with people like him which he would've enjoyed.

Hell makes no sense and, even if it did and it does exist, I know I won't go there because God —if the christian/catholic God exists— will know there's good in me, and pain, and they will understand and forgive me.

I'm scared about what will happen with my loved ones once I leave. I'm scared about my ex not giving a fuck. I'm scared about the act itself, but definitely not scared about what'll come next. It probably will be just like a lightbulb going off, like going to sleep and never waking up.

your energy shifts form and the "you" that existed is gone forever. and maybe at some point what was once a part of "you" will get to become a sentient being again

I don't believe in any spiritual/mystical stuff so I think "I" would just cease to exist like any other living organism that ceases to exist when it dies. It depends what someone means by "I", though. Matter cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. I don't think a human has any more chance of an afterlife than a cactus, a ant, or an atom.

I would tend to agree with this. Although it might be interesting if there is something else, but I'll be surprised.

Amitriptyline is my plan B so do you mind if I ask you for some details?

How much did you take and, basically, how was your experience? Did you make a full recovery after the coma?

From your perspective, since you are braindead and can't tell time anymore and there is no space in where you exist, everything ends, there is no 1 second of darkness or 1 trillion years, effectively when you die, it's all over. The same as when you weren't born.

And as for religion and other things, we are not super natural, we have brain waves, the only reason we exists is because of them, you don't get reassigned as a goat when you got o sleep do you? and even if a person with the same brain waves and chemistry as you would get born, it would be another person, I think this is why cloning is illegal on people, it would show that life is not as crazy as we think it is, sheep however are free to be cloned I guess.

1 second after my brain dies I will cease to exist forever.

Me , any thinking or consciousness are only productions of my brain

I exist only in the story that my brain tells itself 🧠

Me and the universe exist only as models in my brain. After my brain dies the universe will cease to exist forever to me, it's as if me and the universe were destroyed forever .

You can only think about one thing at a time

What determines what you/ your brain is paying attention to at any particular moment?

There is nothing beyond death, and fantasies of afterlife only exist because it's hard to dwell on the existential dread of death. The abyss of non-existence that waits after your biological machine stops functioning terrifies most, and spirituality and religion is simply a coping strategy our minds cooked up.

Hell or heaven, in the Christian understanding. Many people think rather narrowly about these places, mundanely, so nothing is scary, but not everything is so clear. Therefore, whatever life is, it is better to think a hundred times before putting your life on the line in eternity.

any experience we have is due to electrical activity in our brain. Once that ceases so does our experience.

To the people that think there is simply nothingness, how do you explain the similarities that a lot of people with NDE experienced? Why are there common elements that they witnessed? And how do we explain the fact that many people felt the presence of loved ones, even when alive? Like little children playing with spirits or some "spiritualists/mediums" that know things about you that you never told them, or can see your loved ones spirits, animals looking at things that are not present, etc.

These are only questions, I, myself, am not sure of anything. I am just confused and afraid. I have brain injury because of chemicals and I lost control of my body and mind. If chemicals altered my brain and the perception of self it just leaves me wondering if I am something more than just chemicals. Maybe 99% chemicals, 1% something more?

I think that there is nothing. Not just an endless black or a dark room, but nothing. I think it is a simple switch that we choose or have flipped and we get to feel nothing anymore. Knowing I don't have to go elsewhere and I don't have to feel the pain of life anymore keeps me calm for the time I bring it upon myself. For if this is the case, there is no mourning, no regret, just a long and beautiful sleep.

Some people only believe in science . If science cant explain it then it cant be true. I dont think our human brain can comprehend the unknown. NDEs are fascinating Ive had a few friends that have had them

I believe that it's like that nothingness that we "experienced" before being born. Ya know when the other x millions of years happened? It's the most calming and yet depressing thing for me. I don't want to feel these bad feelings anymore but you're telling me it's lights out for all of forever and beyond? It's a tough pill to swallow.

I just believe death to be non-existence which is all I hope for, I want to never suffer in this cruel, torturous existence ever again, all I wish for is to not exist, I just wish to be unconscious for all eternity where there is no more pain, no more suffering, I'd be so relieved to be free from this existence I personally always saw as a mistake. Non-existence would solve everything for me, it's that's positive for me in this existence where there is all this endless suffering and cruelty with no limit as to much agony one can feel, I just want to sleep for all eternity, only in dreamless eternal sleep will I be at peace.

Maybe it's too much of a "kumbaya everybody wins" answer, but I'd like to think we'll all get whatever we want the afterlife to be. If you want nothingness, you get nothingness. If you want to be reunited with your childhood pet, then that puppy will be right there.

The fact is I have just as much proof of that being true as the people insisting on the nothingness. The only people with definitive proof are, for one reason or another, unable to write peer reviewed articles. We'll just have to wait and see.
