An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.
Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
This recently happened to me. My dad found me - went to the hospital for the methylene blue treatment. Ended up in the psych ward. Good thing he didn't find my extra 100g of SN. Reattempt when I can.

Honestly I have a few in mind when it comes to this question but mainly overdoses (not SN), SN, sodium-azide, cutting, and this one "night-night" method listed in the megathread. I know this forum is really against ODs on anything other than SN and cutting but like I've heard it be done in my town. I like my options to be open you know?
At least the cutting ones I have kind of experienced accidentally as a cutter. But the shame of going to urgent care for self harm is different I think than for an attempt. Urgent care can't sanction you over self harm like they can over suicide.

If you wake up after, the first thing you need to know is that panic is normal. Your body will be in shock. Your thoughts might scatter. You might be in pain. Or you might feel nothing, which is worse in some ways. Here's the blunt truth: survival isn't always clean. Especially with methods outside of SN or inert gases. Overdoses—particularly with benzos, painkillers, or prescription cocktails—fail constantly. And they fail messily. We're talking liver damage, seizures, vomiting blood, coma, and cognitive decline. You don't just "wake up and feel tired"—you can wake up permanently worse off.
If that happens, you have two options:
Go to hospital/urgent care. If there's any risk you've done serious harm (especially organ damage), this is the only choice that might preserve your ability to function if you survive. Yes, they may section you depending on where you live, but many attempts—especially non-lethal ODs or cuts—don't lead to longterm psych holds if you're coherent and noncombative. They stabilise you and let you go once you're physically cleared.
Wait it out. Risky. If you're still sick, vomiting, delirious, or fading in and out, you might be in real danger of dying slowly over days or doing irreversible damage. People have destroyed their kidneys, gone blind, lost speech function. This isn't hypothetical—it's documented.
You mentioned cutting. You're right: urgent care often treats that as self-harm, not an attempt. It gives you more anonymity than showing up post-SN. But deep cuts that hit arteries or cause heavy blood loss can also leave you in shock fast. And staff will know the difference between a cry for help and a deliberate, anatomical attempt.
You're not wrong for wanting your options open. Everyone here wants a safety net even if we don't admit it. But if you're serious, you need to plan not just for success, but for failure. Because the failure might be worse than what you were trying to escape.
Whatever you choose, own the full scope of it. Not just the moment you go to sleep but what might happen if you don't.

Thanks for the help! ALSO MATCHING PFPS!
How long were you in the hospital and how sick did My SN experience wasn't awful - vommited, mild headache, fast heart beat. I was unconscious but then I woke up in a hospital and placed into a 5150 hold. That was the worst part of my experience. Now my dad has been hovering over me - maybe that's even worse…

How long where you in the hospital and how sick did you get with SN?
My SN experience wasn't awful - headache, vomit and a racing heartbeat - almost felt peaceful. I was unconscious when my dad found me and I woke up in the hospital (1050 hold). Now he has been hovering over me since… maybe that's even worse?
