What do you do if you get caught attempting suicide?

If, for some reason, you get caught while attempting suicide, what should one do? What's the best defense to avoid psych ward or consequences? Should one deny or say it was just an impulse? I live in France if that matters

I got caught trying to hang myself in hospital recently. The staff just took everything out of my room and were asking why I was doing what I was doing. I still haven't got all my stuff back e.g. sheets, curtains

Having been rumbled in this situation, just come clean. When it happened to me my emotions just went ape and I cried all the way to the hospital, while I was there and for a bunch of time after

@Soul That's a good point, it depends on the method being attempted. For example, if it was something like that could be construed as an legitimate accident or mistake, then it is easier to explain it as such (e.g. like accidentally taking the wrong medicine without knowing). For other methods, it wouldn't help as much to cover it up, so the best thing would be to come clean and deny any further suicidal ideation, saying what they 'want' to hear rather than what you believe in.

It doesn't make any sense to have me committed because I'm probably dead soon anyways by cancer.

It's not difficult not being caught. You could do it in nature where no one will find you.

You can check into a hotel and say you don't want to be disturbed.

Find a hiding place and do it there. The point is not being discovered.

Any mental health professional will give a shit if you kill yourself but not if someone killed you. And they would probably be relieved for not having to deal with you anymore and never having to feel guilty that you died. That's what I sense from the professionals I am seeing.

As for if you are caught... I've done things unknowingly while high on prescription meds and stuff so you could claim that you took something (legit) to sleep and then went nuts but didn't know.

Wow that is unbelievable. I mean I'm glad she didn't notice so you can be out of pain from CRPS but it's also awful that she didn't notice. I have a high tolerance to meds/chemicals/self-destructive abuse (trust me I've tried), so OD'ing "accidentally" would not be much of a surprise to my therapist and psych. Everyone else will get over it eventually.
