• Hey Guest,

If you would still like to donate, you still can. We have more than enough funds to cover operating expenses for quite a while, so don't worry about donating if you aren't able. If you want to donate something other than what is listed, you can contact RainAndSadness.

Hey all,

Since I have been away for over 1.5 years and only recently returned, there has been tons of changes but I'm not sure which ones there are aside from the one time where the original administrators/owners of SS have changed hands and that RainAndSadness is the new admin along with different moderators. What were all the things that I missed? If someone could fill me in as I was out of the loop for a long time, that would be appreciated.

Additionally, I've noticed that there are many functionalities on this forum that are no longer there such as a member's list, moderation/admin list, or maybe all these things are not visible to me since I'm a new account? Also, before I left in early 2021, I recall there was a sub-forum, like the sanctuary or something, which is a private subforum that only certain members have access to and mainly for various other conversations that are more sensitive that won't be visible to the non-members (and to protect from pro-lifers watching from the outside). Is that still here by any chance?

What about the search bar to search for threads, search for threads by members, advance search, etc.?
Is there a way to DM or PM someone? I don't really have that functionality here, or maybe it's because once again I'm a new member?

If it possible @RainAndSadness or @throwaway_2620 do you know if there is a way to extract the old information from my old account before I left or is all of the information on there gone for good? My old account before I left back in January 2021 was Deleted-Member-2141 or whatever it is. Would I be able to link this one to the old one or no?

Editted some formatting to make the thread look nicer.

You're correct that you will have access to the search functionality and the ability to message people once you've been here longer. There's a magic number of posts or replies and maybe a 24-hour waiting period.

I'm not a mod, but I do know that people with deactivated accounts can get them reactivated or reanimated or whatever by submitting a ticket or messaging. Click on the three bars on the upper left hand corner, scroll down to tickets, and submit a new ticket OR scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "contact us." It does appear that you used to be @Deleted member 2141. You would be able to change that name to something else after some amount of time passes.

Editing to add that @Dot was posting at the same time as I was, and the screen shot is probably more helpful than my post, but I'm leaving it up anyway. Dot is another mod.

The reason why you currently don't have access to The Sanctuary, Member's List, Moderation/Admin List or the search bar is because you're still a new member on this account. Also, you haven't been granted permission to PM other users or join the chatrooms yet for the same reason. After you've posted enough messages and been an active member for at least 24 hours, you should have access to the same permissions you previously had on your old account.

As for extracting the old information from your old account and linking it to your new account, that may not be possible. You would have to PM @RainAndSadness and ask her about what options you have and whether or not you would be able to have your old account reactivated, if you prefer. Alternatively, you could create a ticket or click where it says "contact us" to ask about your options.

Thanks for the info and answers @Dot @Cathy Ames @throwaway_2620

As for getting the old account back, yes I'll ask @RainAndSadness about it. I do prefer just having the old account reactivated though.

I hope you can! In the mean time (in case it takes a while) try hovering your cursor over the name @Deleted member 2141. Either now or at some point in the future when you've been here for long enough, you will see a pop up that shows how many messages and reactions that account had. If you click on the number of messages, you'll have a list of your prior posts and replies right at hand to refer back to should you wish.

@TAW122, here is something that has changed! Nowadays when the accounts are deactivated they just get crossed out rather than renamed as "Deleted member ______." That's kind of interesting. Oh well....

That is nice to know. Also, I have submitted an inquiry via Contact Us to try to reactivate my old account and when that is done, then I can start using my original account instead of this one. I highly prefer reactivation rather than migration because there is much stuff on my old account that migrating is just too much trouble and chances are things can get lost in there..

I have done the "contact us" method yesterday and also sent a DM to the admin this morning but I'm not sure how long the process takes or if my older account will be reinstated. In the meantime, I am using this one to post since it's all I have for the time being.

I was nice that you had a good relationship with tiredhorse. I have read several of his postings, especially good were they about SI.
