What can a therapist share after death of client from suicide?

I met with my therapist today for weekly session. I didn't mention what I did last week. She doesn't have to know and as she isn't part of mental health services, she doesn't have access to my medical records. Anyway, what I really want to know is if a client dies by suicide, will my therapist have a legal obligation to share what I talk about with her if an investigation takes place? It really shouldn't matter, as I will be dead, but I desperately don't want to have people (family) knowing my darkest, shameful secrets.

No. Therapist are not allowed to share any information about their clients. It's part of their jobs 'Code of Ethics'.

In the uk if the death goes to inquest they will ask if the patient shared any information such as suicide plans but no they shouldnt share infornation outside that.

Yes, if your therapist has a reason to believe that you are a danger to yourself or others the therapist must break that confidence in order to make sure that you or others are safe.

If you are really planning to CTB soon then there is no point in opening up. Otherwise she or he will be your enemy..in a way

I don't think you have understood my post. I'm fully aware of when confidentiality must be broken during therapy. I'm referring to what is a therapist, under law, required to share, if an investigation takes place, after a client has took their own lives.

Not left my flat since Monday. Had a call from the sanctuary but didnt want to go to see them. Researching SN now, cant get anti sickness pills tho so need a way around that. Literally since the nitrogen has been taken im wishing i had just done it. There is no real help and they wont re-admit me so CTB is now the last hope

I'm so sorry to read how you are feeling. I feel your pain. There really isn't much help out there. Well unless you have fuck loads of money to go private. I think I know what sanctuary you are referring too. I phoned them a few weeks ago and was told that because my "issues" seem to be medication related, they couldn't talk to me. The "lovely lady" over the phone said that if I was just having a "bad day" then she would have asked me to come in to speak to someone in person. Crisis line no help. Told to contact them when I'm in crisis. Wtf. Just been making a note of all the times I have contacted them, pleading for some kind of help and what their responses have been.
So sorry for rattling on. Wish I had words of encouragement, but feeling quite similar to how you have described.

I can see you're in pain...but you can't do SN without the proper antiemetics. Its like saying you're going to go take a drive but you can't get the brakes to work on the car...and leaving anyway. Although presumably that scenario will end with death, while SN without antiemetics will leave you alive and under even more suspicion and watch.

I wouldnt do it without any, i mean i need to find a way around not being able to get a prescription.
