I live on my own and don't have anyone nearby who can offer my dogs a permanent home so their welfare is what is holding me back.

If you've got pets, what are your plans for them? Will you take them to someone's before? Leave instructions for afterwards? I keep going back and forth about what to do and I'm getting nowhere.

Fortunately my dog loves my dad more than me. I think she can clearly sense my rapidly deteriorating mental state and it repulses her. She used to sleep on my bed every night but now she avoids me. So I will be leaving her under his guardianship in my will. One more life better off without me. Your situation sounds hard though. That would really worry me too. I know terminally ill people have spent a lot of time screening potential adopters. I'm assuming you don't have trustworthy family to take them in?

I made the decision not too long ago that I wouldn't ctb until my dog has passed away. I understand that that's probably not a viable option for everyone, im lucky in the regard that he is my childhood pet and is getting up in age now.

I dont really know what I would do in your situation, I hope you can find a good place for your dogs, but they will definetly miss you as by the sounds of it you're all they know.

I don't live alone so I'm not worried about my pet but I'm sure it will miss me. It's one of the few things that make my days better. It's good to see it around happy all the time.

It is true that pets provide an unconditional love that I have not found in most humans. I too, will wait until my beloved pet has passed before I go. Meanwhile, I am focusing on making all the other preparations so I will be ready at that time. Hoping you can find a solution that works for you and keeps your dogs safe.

Plan A is to wait until the old girl has gone (the younger one is much more adaptable) but that requires me to be able to stand it, which is getting increasingly difficult. Scritches and cuddles to all your pets x
