Most methods we know will result in dire and permanent consequences should they fail, but what about overdosing on opiates? I've heard you just lose consciousness on the spot and then wake up again later,no brain damage occurs. the main danger is probably the risk of hitting your head on the solid ground and it not killing you, which can easily be prevented by OD'ing while sitting and snorting/shooting your stuff on a table.

Is this true? I could be wrong on this. This is all assuming nobody spots you and subsequently tries to send you to the psych ward of course.

I think you can aspirate on your vomit but I think that's when you drink a whole load of strong alcohol with other CNS depressants. Then again, heroin causes nausea and vomiting so, I'd want to make sure it's done right.

I would personally take a whole load of benzos (valium or xanax) along with ambien (zolpidem- sleeping pill), then take heroin. I read someone's friend on erowid died from that.

Thanks for your input. I remember reading through a few accounts of near-fatal OD's when I was lurking a couple of drug forums(i.e Bluelight,drugs-forum,etc.)and a notable one I saw on drugs-forum was where a woman accidentally OD'ed and she didn't feel any nausea. She was in deep pleasure but soon after loss consciousness and would have died if her boyfriend didn't revive her with Naloxone(drug to recover from opiate overdose,I hear its very unpleasant however.)

but then again, that particular user was already very experienced with heroin use,not a first timer trying to commit suicide with it.

I've wondered this too. If the only risk is waking up what is there to lose?

At worst you'd feel amazing before losing consciousness then wake up (probably gutted it didn't work).

If you aspirate on your own vomit you'd be unconscious when it happened so what does it matter?

What the actual cause of death is shouldn't matter if you're not aware of it happening.

Yup,most of us actually want the ability to fall asleep and never wake up,then we wouldn't have to worry about methods.

I've heard the same thing of trying to do yourself in with Nitrous Oxide. Even if someone runs in to interrupt you, there will be no brain damage from the attempt.

again,I could be wrong, this isn't something I'm sure about it. I just heard that Nitrous Oxide would actually be a pleasurable way to go. (You'll be in pleasure,so probably less risk of you backing out)

I tried overdosing on 3 grams of black tar heroin about a year ago as a suicide attempt. I had no prior experience with it, weighed under 100 lbs at the time, and took it with benzos, anti-emetics, a ton of vodka, and grapefruit juice. I didn't know how to inject it into a vein, so I just injected it like a shot which is probably why I failed. Everything just went black- I felt nothing until I woke up at least 24 hours later. I had four huge, deep wounds and found out later I had pneumonia. I have not felt the same since, I sleep for over 12 hours per day and still feel tired, I'm so exhausted and feel like I'm dying, I get frequent migraines, throw up frequently, and just generally feel horrible. It's really, really horrible.

It does weaken you. I know of an addict who had a small lung capacity because of it.

Sounds like you were on the brink, friend

The consequence of a failed heroin overdose is that you could find yourself addicted to it. I've heard that just using it once can cause you to become addicted.

Anoxic brain injury. Hypoanoxia. That's possibly what you suffered. If the brain is deprevied of oxygen for too long then brain cells start to die. This is a big risk of overdosing and not dying. Sorry Lizzie.

Thank you, I will look into this more. It would be tremendously helpful to know what's wrong, I have been seeing doctors and they have been useless. One is deprived of oxygen when overdosing on heroin? I did not know this.

Yeah, in opioid induced respiratory depression your breathing is slowed down enough so that your brain doesn't get enough oxygen. Your don't breath out the co2 from your lungs like your should either.

Wow, I did not know this, thank you for the information. Way more help than doctors.

What happened with DL0vat0? I am new to this site. My speech and physical movements are okay, I think, just kind of slow. The main symptoms I have are vomiting, migraines, and extreme lethargy.

Thanks for your sharing your experience. That's pretty much why I'd choose to snort the stuff(black tar heroin can be snorted,if I'm not mistaken)instead of trying to inject. (although whether or not you'd have died if you had done this is up to question. intramuscular injection, while nowhere near as good as intravenous,is still a legit method of delivery as far as I know.)

Oh yeah,I forgot to consider this possibility.

Heroin is actually one of the drugs I do plan to try someday, but I'm putting it at near the bottom of my "to-do" list due to risk of developing a dangerous addiction. I plan to try and have fun with the safer substances first before dipping my toe in the dangerous waters of hardcore drugs.

Well, I would tell you to be careful, but we're on a suicide site after all.
