Help What am I doing wrong when trying to find a carotid artery?

I've located a couple spots in my Adams apple with a strong pulse and I've heard if you've found it applying pressure with your finger should make you dizzy and maybe even faint yet whenever I press hard on the spots I've found I never feel different so am I doing something wrong or have I just not found it?
