I have read the chapter in the PPH 2020 that talks about this new machine. It says that the Debreather would be available in February 2020. Does somebody knows something about that? I think that, at least, I have found a method in this machine. But I have one concern, PPH says that the reliability is 6/10. What happens if you fail? Can there be sequelae? I hope not. PPH does not say anything about possible sequelae. What do you think?

Its reliability is unknown since no one has tried it (till the end), so that 6/10 has no value. The possibility of failing is there, probable brain damage due to lack of oxygen, but I don't really know.

Damn it. I thought that the possibility of failing will only provoke that you don't die.

I was interested in the debreather also, I went to the website, but I didnt understand the shipping method. They said something like the seller doesnt ship to you, but ships to a second party. And you get it from them.

Nope. Hypoxia kills brain cells. This is one method you better hope you get right the first time.
Having said that, IF they sell them and IF they can get them through Thai customs then I'm definitely getting one.

Seems like an incredibly risky device. What if it detaches from your face during the convulsions during the dying process?

That sounds horrifying. I don't know anything about it but are anticonvulsants terribly 'available'? I'm guessing not.

What can be wrong? I'm asking. I suppose that if it works at the beginning it works in the end. I read something about changes in your face when you lose conscioussness, and because of that the device can loosen. But if I remember correctly this happened with a previous version from some years ago, not with this version.

I was in the middle of writing that death by hypoxia is known to be peaceful and so wasn't convinced that seizures would be a problem - but thought I'd better check. After reading a few articles it seems seizures are common.
I'm still confused as to how this squares with PPEH's verdict that this method is 'peaceful' - as to the layman (me), seizures seem like the opposite of peaceful.
Anyone with more knowledge of the subject want to chime in here?

I don't know but I think that maybe seizures are not a problem if you are unconsciouss, I think that the real problema is that you fail because of that (mask dettached) with possible brain damage, that would be horrendous.

Well benzos are anti-convulsants and they're pretty available. For a stronger effect you'd go to epilepsy drugs - which I assume, but don't know, are generally more difficult to get.

This thing was supossed to be availabe last February, so, probably it's just a matter of time. So, shall we start a megathread about this? It could be useful, I don't want to end up vegetable because I didn't make things properly.

I never actually knew that about benzos. Thank you, that was very informative. :)

There's a video on the site that shows how to use the ReBreather, including how it's supposed to maintain the seal. It's the second video on the site, it starts with a guy who looks like he's moonwalking forward, and his eyes look like he's kinda freaked out through the whole process.

Right now there are two threads about the Debreather, can't them be united?

Hi All. We now have 3 threads that are active re The Debreather.

You might want to go to this thread, it's up to 5 pages now. Been busy for a couple days.

Some stuff you may not have seen. And questions you may be able to answer.

Hope it's a good day!
