I told my dad I already paid my security deposit and rent with what he's sent me already I need more money to be able to go ctb but I don't know what else to tell him

I can't speak for all parents of course, but I think it's a law of physics or mathematics or evolution... when a kid (of any age) asks for money, parents already know something's up. The older the kid the more suspicious. Just FYI.

My dad is super gullible and I don't live with him that helps

Are you usually one to partake in celebrating New Years? If so, would he believe you needing some money for champagne / grapes / cabbage and black eyed peas / novelty 2026 glasses? If not, groceries themselves are pretty pricey nowadays, and few parents relish the thought of their offspring going hungry.

But yea, he may very well be suspicious regardless, especially if there's any other signs that you're more depressed / upset / disengaged than usual.
