in 2021 I read an article in Der Spiegel about a self-immolation of a trans woman in the German capital. There were videos of this suicide on the internet that I gladly never watched. There were pictures of the dead body that I gladly never seen. There were members of the AfD that made fun of her dying.

And this article changed my opinion on trans people fundamentally. Since then I'm a trans ally. Prior to that I watched Slavoj Zizek who was critical of the LGBTQ+ community and identity politics. I am still a fan of Zizek but I don't follow him in this instance. I also get the feeling he changed his position since because he realized the far-right instrumentalizes this topic.

I could imagine the Charlie Kirk assassination will sway independents or even Democrats into the arms to the GOP. Which is insane. But the far-right is pretty good in agenda setting and setting narratives. But we already have a thread with over 200 replies about this topic in this forum. Lol.

Was there ever a story that swayed your opinion?

I remember in 2022 or 2023 reading a recent news report that a woman was caught with a gun on a college campus. She was kicked off by security as she was planning to use it on Ben Shapiro, who was still doing his traveling college campaigning show at this time.

I've tried to Google it back up and there's nothing. I thought I saw it on ABC News. But now, according to Google, the incident never happened and does not exist... WTF? New Mandela effect just dropped...
