I'm going to visit the most famous cemetery of my country next week. I want to be close to the dead. I went to another cementery some years ago but I wasn't suicidal at that time. I didn't feel scared. It was weird. I can't wait to go this time I wanna know how I will feel being there while being suicidal. Hope it's a sensation of peace and envy at the same time.

I know what you mean. I have more peace when I visit my husbands grave at the cemetary. I know when I go I will be there too and that comforts me I guess.

I absolutely can relate to what you say about feeling a sense of peace but envy of the dead in cemeteries! it's like they are all at peace, and i crave that feeling, more than being alive. I often take walks into cemeteries, find a bench and just enjoy the silence.

I like to read the names and dates on tombstones, to imagine the dead's lives with all their joys and sorrows. To think of how they must have loved and laughed and suffered... just like I do.

Sometimes I look at the shape of the letters on a grave and I see the person flashing in front of my eyes: this one here was tall and pale, that one there had a funny gait, oh, and look, a grave with only one date carved on the cross... there lies an angel.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, that's what we all are. We are born, we suffer and then we lie in a cold grave until time wipes out all traces of our existence.

And they say humans are the crown of creation... What an old wives' tale!

There, I just stumbled on a root and fell face down onto a mossy grave. Thank God, I didn't break my nose on the left arm of that iron cross.

Once I was on cemetery when it was dark.
That was pure peace and tranquility.
And when I heard the birds singing in this silent place, it was something divine.
I think that is a must-visit place for everybody who is suicidal.
You can even get some answers on questions you have.
Or even change your mind.

I feel so at ease in cemeteries. I visit them often. I imagine I'm under one of those tombstones too.

I am in love with cemetaries. One of the only places I find true peace, calm, and a glimpse of joy. I once spent an hour in a graveyard in Paris...chasing cats and shadows. Touching moss, meandering...it was THE best.

Wow! This is so well-written and I agree. Wholeheartedly.

I'm planning to spend 1 or 2 hours there. I don't have enough time but I want to be quiet. At least for that time.

My advice would be to go as soon as it opens or right before close. Popular cemetaries can, at times, be touristy=loud.

It does not usually take long to feel that positive effect, so even 1 hour may be enough

It is so overwhelming how much peace I find there. I find myself stopping at the oldest graves and talking to them. I figured they haven't had visitors in a long time. So far, they haven't said anything back which would open a whole new can of worms.

OMG...how beautiful. I can not even imagine the emotions I would be feeling. So totally worth it..very jealous.
Ye, I have not visited it yet. The buses go several times a day, so it is not that easy sometimes.

Ive been riding the local bus up town as of late, because I am without a car.On the route back home we go by the oldest cemetary in my town.I always perk up in my seat in attention to check it out..Looks so beautiful and peaceful.I always want to pull the chain and have them let me out there,so I could chill for an hour till the next bus comes through.

I think Im going to do it next week.Im going to pack a lunch and have a small personal picnic in the cemetary and kind of reflect and meditate for a few hours.
