Venting Vent - Reddit Sucks, Everyone is so Hateful There

I made a post on reddit in a woman's sub venting about a woman's issue and a whole bunch of people came out of the woodwork to tell me it was a weird thing to vent about and that I was playing the victim by asking for support for it. Sigh. I dont know what I expected, I go on Reddit hoping for help or support or kindness but most people there fucking hate me for some reason.

People tell you to ask for help and not be shy, but when you do, people treat you like that. It fuels my suicidality to be honest.

A lot of subreddits are basically cults filled with people who don't know eachother. If anyone as much as dare go against their covertly agreed upon narrative there is usually hell to pay. I'm sorry you stumbled across one of them.

So sorry your experienced this in what was supposed to be a place for support, I agree with the reply above, subreddits have weird ass unspoken rules and if you go against them, people lose their minds because they simply have nothing better to do. Please don't dwell on it and take personally as they do not know you or your life. There is a women's thread here, let me see if I can find it. (Most) Everyone on there is supportive in my experience.

Yeah, I was venting about lack of women indie game devs and how games made by them dont get as popular as ones made by guys, and people were basically like 'women can just pull themselves up by their bootstraps and make games, nothing is stopping them!' / 'I don't even know who develops the games I play so I'm not sexist, ergo gamers aren't sexist!' Smh.
