Valentine's day soon

How do you all feel about it? I don't know anyone that has actually found love on valentine's day, it seems to start more fights if anything, also people that don't have anyone get a whole day marked as a reason to feel like shit. Even if you are in a relationship, it kind of feels like a cheap gesture, "this Is mandatory love day where we pick each other" you can't force love. The best gestures are spontaneous and unsolicited anyway. Can't be spontaneous if you literally have a day marked for it. All in all not sure this holiday has much point.

Eh. My best friend died the day after Valentine's Day. I think it's a stupid commercial holiday. I like the theme of red and hearts but don't think "celebrating" it is really necessary. Some people take the shit too seriously.

I don't ever see anyone celebrating valentines anymore. Most ppl are miserable like u and me.

I really like about two or three days after Valentines Day when all the vast, unsold heart shaped boxes of chocolates and things are available for a quarter of the price (their approximate value) and I can buy them :-)

Valentine's Day doesn't matter to me. I feel lonely when I see couples on other days as well, so really it'll just be the same

It's really not a massive deal here in New Zealand, some jewelry shops may take advantage of it and do some sales but other than that, it's basically another day. Maybe it's just more a US thing ?

One day that has taken off here from the US is Back Friday or Black Friday weekend sales. They're getting ridiculous.

My gf wanted one of those giant 5 foot stuffed bears but I told her no. Then she saw a giant 5 foot stuffed sloth and told me she wanted that. I actually had to explain it wasn't the animal, it was the size, because we have no space for it. Women.

In the past I've done stuff on v-day but nothing over the top or gimmicky, I think last year I went to my local aquarium which was fun. I've never actually got cards or chocolates though.
