Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I'm trying to anchor myself on a wooden staircase of an over 100 year old house
Would that be feasible for fsh?
Its been through several earthquakes and im about 215 lbs.
Ive heard 12 mm polypropylene is the best
A thick braid

The top of staircase is a good anchor point. As long as it's from a private location (where only you have access). If it's a public staircase, it's not a good idea. Because someone could find you ahead of time, and that's one of the biggest mistakes to avoid.

Test the top of staircase to see if it is securely attached to the floor or wall, that it doesn't wobble or look too fragile. You can tie the rope and hang from it with your hands, applying all your weight.

Don't plan attempting "drop hanging" either (I mean: don't jump from the top); being 50/60 cm above the ground is enough (about the height of a regular chair).

As for the rope, 10 to 14 mm thick is fine.
Made of polyester or polypropylene (braided and not twisted), these are resistant materials.

Check the label for info about the Breaking Load/ Ultimate Load/ Breaking-Tensile Strength & Working Load Limit (WLL)
The rope you're holding says 75 kg, that must be the WLL, and I can read it says "polypropylene".

(For more information, you can read the hyperlinks)

thanks for the info but i unfortunately failed a few days ago. i don't know where exactly, but probably in tying the anchor point knot while the rope was too long so that i wasn't fully suspended in the air 🄲

I marvel at the modern economy. Rope seems like such a good deal. How do you sell that much of such a high quality product for so little? Boggles my mind.

attempted FSH yesterday and it actually went fully how it should have, kicked the chair, lost consciousness but somehow woke up shortly after and my survival instinct made me untie the rope.
