I thought of Shawshank Redemption and how that was the perfect time to escape prison, at night during a thunderstorm. That may be the best time to escape the prison of life as well. These days many of us find ourselves locked in with people around us when we really want complete isolation to do our deed without risking being "saved". So, maybe we can wait for a stormy night to leave this life. It would help to cover the potential noise that comes with hanging, as well as other methods too. Just something to consider.

I guess it depends on where you live here in Denmark there are maybe a thunderstorm once ever few years which is sad I like the warm rainy earthy smell it´s nostalgic but we never get those anymore.

Awe now I miss it, especially going outside in that weather, it rains all the time in Denmark but when it thunders as I am sure you know the warm air collides with the cold air creating thunder and the warm humitity coupled with cold rain and that relaxing warm, moist earthy smell is so nostalgic.

Wow. That seems strange to me as I live in the southern USA and we get thunderstorms somewhat frequently. I know the smell you're talking about and I agree it is nice. The rainy smell in parking lots isn't so great though, I've always thought it smells like really bad fish lol... I guess it has something to do with the rain mixing with oil or something.

Lucky that you get to experience it so often.

The smell of rain is actually due to the rain releasing odors from the soil and also from plants, I don´t know why it smells so much better doing a thunderstorm, maybe the increase in humidity increase the release of these odors or make them smell stronger to us.

You're lucky to live in a cold weather country where it rains all the time. For me when days were cloudy and it rained, it gave me some sort of hope. It was nice.

Well yes but actually no. When I no longer have a car I have to walk so long to the grocery stores in rain and I like to go on long walks 1-2 hours a day and when it rains it ruins that for me.

But recently for a couple weeks we have had a lot of sunshine and 20 degrees celcius today and that is depressing to me probably because I used to have so much fun outside as a kid and teenager in the good warm weather and I now everyone else is out living life to its fullest on warm sunny days which makes me jealous and angry that they are living a happy life and I am not. Also as an adult I sweat more, not excessively just what adults normally do I know people who sweat a lot but still as a teenager I would get hot and angry because of the heat on hot days but not sweat as much.

You can buy perfume oils that replicate it. Some are more redolent of rain on grass, some of rain on hot sidewalks. They're quite intriguing.
