I'm in the UK. If I attempt suicide, and succeed, will the police read my private messages on my phone? Also will they be able to see my Internet history even if I've wiped it?
And if I attempt and fail, will the police look at my phone too?
I haven't got anything illegal on there or anything like that - I just don't want people to intrude on my privacy.

If you wipe your phone before passing out and it's clearly a suicide and not a murder noboody will bother trying to recover the data inside.
Even if it contains illegal data you can't be charged as long as you're dead, they won't certainly go after a dead body.

If you didn't die of suspicious circumstances which requires them opening a case to investigate your death, then no.

If your attempt fails, they have the right to section you in a "place of safety" eg. hosp, police station and take away those belongings they consider can be used for self-harm. I have been sectioned after a failed attempt with chloroquine , police didn't take my phone but the hosp, did.

If you encrypt your phone and turn it off that should do the trick.

In Scotland I know that anything to do with a partner or ex which is classed as to cause fear and alarm is classed as a domestic

I thought in the UK suicides get referred to a coroner's court, ie they are investigated?

I'm scared of this, because I talk about drugs a lot and don't want anyone I love incriminated. Or my pharmacist who supplies me with anti-ds

If you fail and you are sectioned your phone can be taken from you but can't be looked at unless you have committed a crime (I work in mental health on an acute ward with patients under section )

They can find anything. There's no such thing as wiping a phone. There will always be a data trace.
