Help UK hanging police call

Hello,

So I have a question.

Context; I am hoping to end my life in a public forest. (Hidden away, not easily seen) However, I worry about who might find my body. I don't want to traumatise family, a child or a random person going about their business.

This is why I am planning on calling 999 and telling them "Hey.. I found a guy who has hung himself in X forest, hidden behind X and Y. I don't know what to do"
so that my body can be disposed of properly without traumatising people who won't be expecting it.

Is this an alright idea? The police won't be quick enough to stop me right? What kind of questions will I get from the call?

I really need to die so I really can't fail this.
Any help will be appreciated.

iirc there are apps for android not sure for iphone that allows you to schedule phone calls and then you can just set it to play a pre recorded voice message, but you would need to leave your phone without a password for them to work, you can take a look into it, and schedule a call for 1-2 hours after the act

edit: i think macrodroid is the name of the app but there might be others that do the same thing

I would recommend something like a scheduled email instead. Some emergency services can track phone calls, and even if you're completely sure of your decision, you don't want to be in a situation where you have to either rush or have the decision taken away from you.

I believe you can schedule emails as far in advance as you want, so you could set it for however many hours or days afterwards that you feel comfortable. I appreciate that it's something you're thinking about, I'm the same way with wanting to make sure my death doesn't negatively affect any bystanders.

They seem to use them for everything now. Seen them used on reality tv for TWOK cars where the driver does a runner. Possibility of finding a person hanging before they're dead would presumably be viewed as suitable emergency use of a drone.

This may sound a bit weird, but you could drape some camouflage netting over yourself like a cape of some kind.

It varies by location, but if they suspect it's an active suicide many police departments will use whatever tracking technology they have to stop it. In the US atleast, for any emergency call you're always asked your first and last name, along with a few other questions. You could hang up of course, but I'd think that'd be seen as suspicious and encourage them to respond faster (where I'm at, if there's a hangup they call back, and if there's no answer they automatically send someone out to check).

Calling an emergency line just adds a lot of risky variables, whereas a scheduled email is still dependable but doesn't have those risks.

I appreciate your concern for the others.

I can almost guarantee there won't be a drone deployment. They are however likely to ask you to remain on the line until officers arrive on scene, if you just do an abandoned phone call it's likely to get treated as a hoax.

In essence there is a very high likelihood of being found and it's not something I would risk given the possibility of brain damage if the attempt is interrupted.

Scheduled emails are best however I doubt you will find a public inbox for the Met. There is the option of reporting it to them via the website however as with the phone call there is still a risk of being interrupted.

Ultimately whilst you've got good intentions to protect others, you have to weigh up the personal risk to yourself of ending up disabled from a failed attempt.
