Far-right politics is on the rise in the UK. Reform are the top party in the polls and are well on the way to getting a majority. They'll probably be in government come 2029 because Labour are incompetent and taken over by corporate interests.

Farage will fail miserably as PM.

Then we'll have literal fascists like Lowe challenging from the even further right, and we'll end up with them in government with a free-market fundamentalist government in lockstep with capital committing ethnic cleansing against brown and black people, probably expelling trans people from public life, condemning disabled people to death-by-starvation, taking support away from the poor, and so on. It only gets worse and worse.

Think about climate change, which the British far-right doesn't believe in. They say 1.2 billion people will be displaced in the 21st Century. Many of them will have no choice but to go to temperate, mild Europe. Europe will be left with a Sophie's Choice to either take them in any be overwhelmed or to commit genocide to stop them coming. They will choose fascism because we have failed to take climate change seriously.

There is no hope. I can't live in this world. People are getting more hateful every passing month, but there's no escape anywhere else because the whole fucking world is moving in this direction.

I give up. I want to die so badly, but I can't, because my parents would be destroyed by it, as would my sister and my partner. Stuck in an iron cage for life. I'm privileged to have people who love me, but they have simultaneously trapped me in a miserable life that I don't want. I can't take it. I can't take it. I can't do this.

As an American, I've watched as my country swings toward the neo-conservative movement. Their entire platform is scary. Anti-immigrant. Pro-life before birth but pro-death for anyone who doesn't march in lockstep with their extremist ideals. They are crushing us and they don't care because they are getting richer and more powerful every day.

Meanwhile, their orange-skinned lapdog mouthpiece fans the flames as America burns to the ground.

I'm going to be attempting CTB daily if I live long enough to see Farage get elected. At that point, I wouldn't even have a choice in the matter: he'll scrap my disability benefits (even Labour already tried but thankfully backed down) and then it's either CTB or be homeless because nobody's going to hire somebody who is severely mentally ill especially if the Equality Act - the thing that is, at least supposed to, stop employment discrimination against disabled people and other minority groups - gets scrapped too (very likely).

In the meanwhile, I am fucking sick of hearing about "boat people" and the "woke agenda". I instantly write-off anybody who spouts that bollocks but unfortunately that means I've written off most people in my local area since the 2024 election made them piss their pants and throw a temper tantrum. It's gotten to the point where these freaks are now louder and more annoying than the "far-left" they whine about all of the time.

Regards,
CumbriaCTB

basically same thing in france - RN (National Rally, far-right) are on the top of every poll and will arrive in power in 2027. people hate each other more and more. its not the only reason but definitely contributed a lot to me deciding to commit suicide - the fact that the worse is yet to come.

I am absolutely horrified how minorities are being treated now. 60 years after the Civil Rights movement, we've gone backward as the old racist Jim Crow Southerners of the 1960's turned into the neo conservatives of today. But that's where America is today. We've slid backward and it feels like 1959 and we're standing in rural Mississippi.

I'm not gonna say we've slid that far backwards yet, but I do otherwise agree. The fact that we have someone who was EIGHTEEN when desegregation legally happened saying 'Make America Great Again?' didn't raise any alarm bells? Even for self proclaimed centrists? Okay. I'm not surprised things turned out this way, anyone with an education and two eyes could see this happening. However, it is happening fairly quickly and I can't help but wonder how elders who fought for our rights feel right now.

I used to be an idealist and used to think that humanity was evolving in terms of how it treated each other. But I wasn't standing in the shoes of an immigrant, a minority or a member of the LGBTQ community so my idealism was rooted in how I hoped things could be. But hatred was always there. Ignorance never went away. It just got worse and now they can be open about it without fear.

I am angry about this because America could have been something else.

Unfortunately I'm not angry. America was built on the backs of minorities, this is always what America was supposed to be.

That does not make it any less wrong. We should have learned from American history and not repeated its mistakes.

Yeah, because that shift was built on collectove trauma, not any real values. The façade is finally crumbling.

This is not the end of the world, I tell you. Society will not collapse. If a billion people move towards europe they will be stopped.

Most people dont want the welfare state to be gutted; they just want strong, sovereign leaders who can embody national identy and are not held up by legal and judiciary hurdles at every turn. This is is necessay change that must take place; I dont think it will inevitably lead to fascism.

What you're suggesting sounds an awful lot like a dictatorship. Having one or a small group of rulers with no checks and balances from judges or elected representatives will lead to someone like Assad or Stalin getting into power.

Are these fears the main reason you are suicidal? I ask because you say you have a partner and sister that love you. That's a lot right there. Hopefully you otherwise have stability.
I say this because overall I don't think most of the things you fear will come to pass. Most people just want what is best for their families. Greed is an enemy but you get that from the far edges of both sides, imo. Not trying to argue honestly this is coming from a place of love and I'd hate to see you do something for these reasons.

I struggle to place myself on the political spectrum due mainly to ignorance, a bit of apathy and variable stances (perhaps pathological).

All I can say as a Brit who is on the grindstone and struggling is that I'm being squeezed financially. Sometimes I get swayed by the arguments that high levels of uncontrolled immigration and migration are to blame. Other times I get swayed by arguments that it is the 'elitist agenda' to shift the blame on migrants etc.

We have plenty of green space in the UK that could be developed but we have a failing civil service and poor economy that can't/wouldn't keep pace with the numbers coming in.

Our basic needs of health (seeing a GP in itself is an onerous task nevermind getting referred), housing etc. are becoming ever squeezed. UK feels broken and it feels like we're becoming divided into very clear groups based on political ideology. I can't really work out where I belong. I could probably solve this by a day on Wikipedia but meh.

I'm saying if we dont make a choice that choice will be made for us. We need to have real conversations about how we want to live in the future, no more wishful thinking. This madness cannot continue for another 10 years.

Someone like Stalin or Hitler will only get to power if responsible people refuse to take action.

A balanced monarchy of sorts. You would still vote for legislative represantatives, but the king would be appointed through a chain of succession (possibly via adoption, if there is no suitable biological heir) similar to the Imperial period in Roman history.

Roman history had some pretty bad emperors though, like Nero and Caligula...

What if the 'king' just decided to institute slavery? Would the represantatives be able to stop him?

My exact feeling. The story goes if you put frog in pan boiling water it hops out. But if heat the water slowly once frog is in pan it is cooked. We are slowly moving into fascism again but arent seeing it

British politics I think most white people nowadays are at least a little racist. I am not one of them as I have common sense but it's much easier to blame a complex problem, the state of modern Britain, on whoever's the minority to pick on for the week. Seriously, we have so many instances of this in history and how it all turns out for both the people in power and the normal people, and people still believe for this bullshit.

I don't think we're gonna get as far as say Nazi Germany cause that was ruled by a man who knew what he was doing: built it up slow and subtle with legitimate reasons on why the normal person should vote for him (one of Hitler's main campaign points was getting rid of The Treaty of Versailles and restoring Germany's economy after The Wall Street Crash made it so they can't take out loans from America anymore). Meanwhile the idiots in London didn't even try to throttle search results for VPNs before releasing their quite obvious data scraping scheme that can be easily bypassed with a VPN. It takes intelligence, charisma and good management skills to become a good dictator, especially in the modern day where information can be spread across the world in seconds, all of which these politicians don't have. They'll try to brute force their way to extreme power, get their ass kicked by the British public, and then a scene similar to the French and Russian revolution will play out.

Anyway thanks for coming to my TedTalk on why history is so important to teach properly in schools.

Don't be racist. Racism is for idiots.

Rome would not have continued to exist if it hadn't been done.

Yes, they would be able to stop him in such extreme cases because they could rally the people behind them and he would be stripped of his authority.

I like Stephen Miller, Bannon, Vance. Did you see Stephen Miller 's speech at the Charlie kirk memorial? It was really good. Thank God for Trump. Tommy Robinson is doing good things in the UK.
