I was just wondering... If I am planning to ctb using a shotgun, should I use 00 buckshot or a 3 inch slug? I see many images online of shotgun suicides. In some, the head is only partially wounded and in others, the head is almost if not completely blown off. My goal is to blow my head off. I don't want to feel a thing. With this being said, what shotgun round would be appropriate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

A 00 buckshot or 3 inch slug would be more than sufficient to do so. Also, pellets and shot (even bird shot) used at such close range (point blank range) acts similarly like a 'slug' because there isn't enough distance and room to expand for the pellets/shots to disperse. Quite honestly, if all you had was birdshot, then it should be sufficient. Ideally, I'm going with 00 buckshot, but #4 birdshot is good enough. The lower the # for the shot, the larger the pellets, which is why #4 is used for ducks, and then #0 shot is for geese (larger birds).

Great. Thanks!

And one more question. This question is highly debated everywhere I look... Where do I aim the shotgun? I want to aim behind the ear so it destroys the brain stem. Some people say behind the ear, some say up through the mouth, and some say put the gun on the temple. What way do you think is best with a shotgun (using 00 buckshot), and what way will you use to ctb yourself?

Thanks :)

Larger shot sizes are used for goose shooting because geese tend to fly higher, and the inertia of heavier shot is needed to maintain sufficient energy at these greater vertical distances.

None of this affects the point blank range effect, as such, but wildfowlers going after geese like to use long barrelled guns with tight chokes and 3inch or 31/2 inch chambers to maintain pattern densities.

Edit: As a safety matter, remember that you should only use slug with an unchoked gun - what we in UK call true cylinder bore.

@Ryan.s I would certainly go through the mouth because with any long gun, it's hard to position correctly on the side of the head, thus making through the mouth the most logical option.

Yes definitely. Not only are the other methods hard to position but they are also way too easy to flinch at the last moment.

Interesting. Okay, so if I position a 12 gauge shotgun in my mouth (00 buckshot in the chamber), will that blow my head off? If so, I will consider the mouth an option. My goal is simply to not feel a thing, and also not end up a brain-damaged potato.

As do we all.

I've read in the past that if you somehow fill your mouth up with water then it will explode your whole head, but I don't know if that's true, nor am I sure that you could keep your mouth filled with water while performing the operation.
