I'm 29 and have been severely depressed for 19+ years. I've tried several medications for this and my other conditions through the years with little success. The best thing I found was Zoloft which was...not harmful at least? I was 99% ready to ctb after years of consideration, but my therapist is urging me to try medication one last time before I make my final decision. I'm terrified. Some of these medications truly fucked me up and made my life so much worse...Lithium, Lamictal, Abilify, Seroquel, Lexapro...all had disastrous side effects (some ending in unplanned ctb attempts)...

I guess I'm looking for some hype-humans out there to help me try to rally one more time and try a damn pill. I'm just so fucking scared...more scared of the meds than I am of the long fall.

Which medication is being recommended (if you don't mind me asking)

(I'll jus share a but of my own story.)

I get the hesitation and fear bc same. I just recently tried an anti depressant agaian after letting my doctor convince me and I had a horrible reaction to it.. which was disappointing bc I had tried it a few yrs ago with less detrimental effects...

But currently trying another dif kinda med... so far ok tbh... it's not an anti depressant but has benefits within PTSD and ADHD. I'm not doing much and while I'm not willing to try anymore anti depressants bc of my reaction to then there is quite a lot out there so 🤷🏽‍♀️ I'm like why not.

(I'm trying clonidine btw)

How are you feeling about trying them? And do you feel like you have a good relationship with ur therapist?

( I think its worth it to give it one last try especially if you have some good support and always good to have some curiosity, you have my support!!)

My therapist is the bomb dot fucking com, I really like him and I do trust him...except for when it comes to his thoughts about if I should die. He's obviously not in favor of that option.

I feel...terrified of trying any new medications at all. I'm so scared of all of the what if's. I know it sounds stupid, but bad reactions with meds can be horrifying.

Yeah, it's one of the few things that keep me sort of level at all.

Then Go for It. Another try is esketamine. But It should be given in a clinic. People get pretty high from It.

It doesn't sound stupid at all!!! I replied bc the way you expressed how scary trying new meds can be really resonated. It can be really terrifying but I think its takes a lot of courage to even still have the curiosity about it.

I think he fact that you have a good relationship with ur therapist is awesome!! He doesn't want you to die and there's 2 medication options that, if you don't like you can always stop taking (not to minimize the side effects) so I so say go for it!! Having that professional support can like let you even explore more if these don't work. (I'm not the best at verbal wording rn srry)

& also same cannabis be keepin me together as well.

I hope those meds help you, I also took Zoloft. Setraline, generic name, pills can do so much, the rest when you feel better is up to stand up to this invisible disease And take it day by day, it will be a roller coaster. But 2 years later I am still here. Good luck, and if you ever need to talk I'm here. Hugs.

Meds never did squat for me, so from my point of view you are out of luck with that route. I would look into other options.
