Part of my reason for wanting to ctb is a feeling of perpetual exhaustion. I wake up wanting to sleep and then spend the whole day drained, I don't remember when I didn't feel like this.

Have you ever consulted a doctor on the matter?

I have the same feeling, it's depression slowly dragging you down. It gets only worse if you don't do something about it

Brother I feel your pain to my bones.
A therapist once said to me that having depression consumes like your mental and emotional bandwidth, combine that with the requirement to function in day to day life and you end up exhausted, I'm taking deep routed to th core exhausted. For me no amount of sleep can fix
I feel your pain brother and I hope you can find peace.

Indeed. Depressions got me exhausted to my core.

For 2-3 months this year my depression symptoms lifted and I naively embarked on building a tiny house. Once I had finished taking apart an old travel trailer for parts to build a new house, depression/fatigue set in big time. So funny.

Tiredness doesn't seem to be helped by sleeping or resting, as it's a deep soul tiredness I'm feeling.

Being exhausted is the most exhausting feeling.

For me I have under-active thyroid which I was told that's why I feel that way. The doc said I had almost zero thyroid hormone at that time. I'm supposed to take medication daily but I only take once a month because somehow I don't always feel any better on it. I wonder if I'm just tired of life and it manifests physically with a depleted thyroid.

I don't wanna ever get out of bed either , not even to pee .
And just like you , I've felt that way for too long , it sucks .

Yes @Xaphous .
It's not theroid , I know many active people who share that condition .
It's frustration that depletes you of energy and leaves you that way .

I have an over-active theroid but life strikes mostly leave me with an under-active body .

There is no cure for a tired soul. The body then follows after the mind.

@Pentobartbital I actually haven't - I have a quite deep mistrust of Doctors, and not many positive experiences with them. I guess you could say I have no faith in medicine... I might look into trying some supplements. I'm probably not getting enough vitamin D, or eating a very good diet. I think it's a spiritual exhaustion really, though.

Oh actually, I think some blood tests included a thyroid test, a while ago. I was astounded that I have normal thyroid function.

I'm like this as well. Doctors diagnosed me with chronic fatigue. I'm just tired of life and having to carry this heavy load/burden around. I feel like I'm the walking dead. No amount of sleep helps. It's been this way for me since highschool. I would come home after school and sleep until dinner time and after eating/cleaning up I would go back to sleep until morning.

I also have an underactive thyriod. Have you tried upping the dosage at all? It can be a really trial and error process getting your levels up where they should be. I would have to take a dose for 2-3 weeks, then get my blood checked again, adjust from there 2-3 more weeks, check again...until we got it fine tuned. It can take some time and occasionally can be frustrating as hell, but its something that from a scientific perspective, and my anecdotal experience, is worth a shot. It can make a major difference in mood and energy if you can get the levels normal.

Some days I feel like that too, I get too tired and exhausted just after a few hours of being awake. Sometimes I doze off a bit mid-day even if I slept mediocre the night before.

Underactive thyroid was one of the triggers for my depression at 11 (I developed early). Nowadays I have normal thyroid levels but I have done some reasearch and turns out that having it untreated for many years causes permanent damage in serotonin receptors. But the psychiatrists won't tell you that, nor most doctors. It really fucked me up when I found out. That's why some people are still depressed even when taking thyroid hormone. I have gone 8 years without treating it.

doesn't surprise me with docs getting things wrong. I didn't know it could affect serotonin so much but it affects a lot. I actually barely take levothyroxine for it, maybe once every 2 weeks ill take when i feel super drowsy. I don't know if I should be taking everyday again. Do you take levothyroxine daily for it or something else?

i don't take it because my thyroid levels are better now, but the damage is done. i did take some years ago but not for long. and yeah the thyroid affects pretty much the whole body. low thyroid can even cause brain inflammation, like no shit. the brain fog is also no joke.

Yeah I've had the brainfog for as long as I remember and my sleep patterns always messed up. I think I have to get levels checked out again, seems counterproductive sometimes when you want to die so much. They will tell me to take the med everyday but when I did do that I started feeling worse. Only once they asked me to fast first before blood checking, other times they didn't even ask me to fast so I don't see how it's always going to be a complete reading. Thanks for your replies.
