To All Lurkers...

Hello. I know you may be browsing this site for methods, or thoughts about your own suicide, maybe you're scrolling looking for the exact kind of situation that someone else is in that's very similar to you, because you just don't want to get into it all. Maybe you don't want to join a forum, or the security measures worry you.

I'm in Uni right now, and I browse Sanctioned Suicide in incognito mode. You don't need to use your main email, I know you can use one that will ensure more privacy. Not having a VPN or not being able to goto different sorts of forums may be scary...

But there IS a recovery forum here if you're looking to feel better, and the staff is VERY responsive. Maybe you feel like this is your last day, and you can't possibly wait to get accepted to have someone with you in your last moments.

But. I was the same way when I found this site. I figured it would take weeks to get verified to post on this board, and it appeared that it didn't. It took me a couple hours of waiting before I was accepted in. Don't be afraid to join... don't be afraid that the wait will be in vain. Being here has done a lot for me, and has done so much for so many other people.

A lot of times I feel that I'm alone. Being here among likeminded people, even though I despise forums.... I feel like I can put myself out into the world, and that's something I neither wanted nor felt was possible when this all started.

You're welcome here in our little home. It may take a bit before you can get PM's and whatnot, but soon you'll find yourself posting a lot like this.

People might come here and think it's this dark bad place where people encourage each other to do it.

Most of the times, it's the opposite. We don't want to have our friends here leave us but we respect all paths that people chose to take

It's a great post. It took me less than 30 minutes to get accepted which was super fast. And yes all lurkers, this place is the best and I was worried about privacy but it's all great now. It's really helped me not only to read posts but to also create some.

Good post and I think for some lurkers, they may be a bit shy or are uncomfortable making a thread/posting in a thread, which is perfectly fine too. The resources megathreads and also other various threads are full of really valuable information and I'm sure there are those (who don't really post) who may even find them helpful. So for me, I'd like to assume that they have the information they need and are ok with it, and if they have objections or questions or anything then they may speak up.

Oh absolutely, I think so too, I absolutely know some people are shy. My goal isn't to convert ALL lurkers to members, but if someone is debating, I think maybe this might be a nice reach out.

good stuff. i remember being accepted to the site, like, 15 minutes after i registered... and that was at 5 in the morning. staff is hardworking and diligent, most people are friendly and welcoming... it really pisses me off that this site gets such a bad rap. oh, and it's not that hard to hide being a part of this site.

also, to anyone who thinks joining this site always ends in one ctb... you're totally wrong. this site actually helped me through a time where i felt like i had no one, and now i'm leaving it in march to recover even further. that's right; this site and its members inspired me to go to therapy and get on meds.

taking this safe haven away from us will only do harm.

I lurked for months and months before creating my own account. I was assaulted and hospital ridden and didn't feel like it at the time, but even lurking was really nice.

And you worded this perfectly. Since I became more active here, I cry less, I feel more okay, I don't do anything impulsive, and most of all there's good people here who really TRULY do care.
