What do you guys think of people who are on TikTok 24/7 and always get depressive vids and then also make a depressive one

I'm a millennial but live on TikTok 24/7 :)

Honestly I love it. There is a lot of garbage. But
*gen z is going to change the world to better humanity. Should the world not go up in flames first. I LOVE seeing the social change.
*it helps distract me from my mind
*a 30 second video is about the only thing I have the attention span for

I'm in my thirties and think of short form media and echo chambers as a disaster. It's a move towards less information and stronger opinions - a toxic combination, historically seen in religious movements.
I'm an extremist when it comes to free speech, and fully support their right to express themselves. I'm however very worried when influencers have more influence than superintelligent people whom dedicated their life to a subject.

It's like competence and experience no longer matter.

It's obvious to me, that echo chambers of depression are harmful. I fail to see any value in trying to make depression or depressive thought patterns viral.
The medium is much better suited for distributing funny cat videos.

To get back on topic:
No hard feelings towards the average user, but a major concern over the trend.

I can't stand Tik Tok but I'm a millennial. Most of it is just misinformation anyway, I don't believe there could possibly be a single piece of media on that site that would ever be able to help me.

I'm a millennial Youtube addict so I'm no better. I guess it's just whatever you're into. I've never really been grabbed by the short form social media myself, I like longer content with some substance. But that's because I like to actually learn something from what I watch. I like finance, nature, and art shows primarily.

The same reaction I have any time TikTok is mentioned: The CCP thanks them for their data and is excited to push their agenda on yet another young mind. 🫡

I'm gen z and I hate TikTok and its impact on the wider internet. So much of it is attention-grabbing first, substance never. The lack of longform content gives the impression to me that it's mostly shallow garbage. I used it when it was new back in 2018 but once people started using it as a business and optimized for the algorithm, all the creative content got pushed away.
