I came upon this quote the other day from one of my favorite writers and I thought it summed up SI pretty succinctly. To me it explains the sensation of SI and what it potentially means to see through it.
"Fear is the relinquishment of logic, the willing relinquishing of reasonable patterns. We yield to it or we fight it, but we cannot meet it halfway..."
