An existence transfigured by failure.

I have been seeing more reports of people dying at a location on the Oregon coast. There is a site on the beach that has a hole in basalt stone. The waves from the ocean churn through this hole producing large sprays. It's said that under the visual hole there are caverns. Sometimes it's referred to as the Pipeline of the Pacific, because it leads out to the ocean. The sides of the hole are covered with barnacles and mussels.
I've never heard of intentional deaths here, but tourists often fall in while trying to get a closer look. People rarely survive after falling in. I would think that if one went there during a quiet day with no one to report to the Coast Guard, it would be be impossible to get out on your own.
This method would definitely not be peaceful, but as someone who was raised in the Pacific Northwest it feels poetic. I have no plans to do this at this point, but it feels good to consider a method that would take minimal prep and cost.
