This crisis *needs* to result in legalized, voluntary, easily accessible euthanasia under comfortable conditions.

It should be as easy as calling a number and making an appointment. It would surely be abused by the powers-that-be, as well as by abusive family members etc., but for some of us there has to be a readily-accessible, humane solution. A dentist's chair and a needle, a pill or a mask. Piecemeal voluntary euthanasia is a luxury reserved to the rich, when it is certainly more necessary among the poor.

You shouldn't have to struggle through hoops and expend thousands of dollars to convince a psychiatrist of it, either. A few appointments and a background check, coupled to price-controlled N, should be all it takes.

I wish it were so. Wish it weren't so illegal to get the stuff.. Wish that society was more accepting and understanding of it as a reality that people are going to do it no matter what. Might as well make it legal, like marijuana..

Not just legal, affordable. Make it *affordable*. And readily accessible.

This could easily be done. And it shouldn't require spending thousands of dollars to move hundreds of miles into a new home to comply with State law, either. Or moving to Switzerland. Make it a broad-based, uniform national law.

I am convinced that the only hope is that this thing is so destructive, so traumatic, that it radically transforms attitudes on the subject. Of course, the objective process of getting there is probably going to be murderous on the mentally ill - I'm afraid that the *criminally* ill, like myself, will start to be shot or left in prison with the explicit purpose of dying, and that the mentally incompetent will be left to starve. Suicide by cop is going to increase dramatically, as will people trying to get into prison.

The former is inhumane, the latter a waste of resources besides. Give me a white room with bright lights, and make it quick.

Hello exit stage left, I agree it should be accessible and shouldn't cost a fortune either. There is no point in any organization making a bunch of money off of people's suffering and a need to end it. They are exploiting that. For people who couldn't pay a small fee then it should also be made available to them for free. Something like a simple apt fill out a simple yes a Simple form and then maybe a waiting period of 3-6 months or so. Then the person could come back and if they still wish to die then they would be able to then via n or even how about let them choose from like 3 different methods? Great ideas but i don't think it would ever happen. I think euthanasia laws will progress however it would probably be very restricted. At least we have the internet and places like this and many more to obtain the knowledge we need to take control of our lives.
