Anyone do this? I'm 23M in canada, live with family, I have a decent amount saved up. I want to change my name and move somewhere remote but not sure how I'd make a living etc. I just want to cut all ties I currently have. I'm currently employed too so I would need to quit. I'm so close to CTBing so is there much risk in doing something drastic?

I thought about doing the same thing. Packing up in the middle of the night. Not telling anybody. Change my number. I've got a few friends in a couple of different states who would take me in and keep my secret.

But that sort of change won't take away my pain. It wouldn't bring my ex back to me. It would only keep making me face my harsh reality without him.

It is a rather nice thought, otherwise.

When I moved away from my hometown and distanced myself from my parents it was very helpful and freeing.

Definitely, definitely give that a shot before CTBing :)

I fantasize about running to another country, getting health treatment I can afford and living a new life away from everything i grew up around. The thing I fear is it won't be enough, I'm taking myself with me. Chances are I'll still be depressed but now in a foreign land.

Best thing I ever did. Worst thing I ever did was come back.

It's a consideration. I may not change my name. I want to be close to water (probably the Gulf). I have moved away from all I knew for a few years, and glad I had that experience. Coming back worked well for a long while, too. Now, nothing really holding me here...well, except my mother and $! :)

So I'm saying yes, give it a shot!

Sometimes drastic problems require drastic solutions. I would say you should try it before CTB, it could be the best thing that you ever did.

Honestly I think I'm just gonna drink the SN. Easier than running away

I can't speak for Canada, but the USA probably has similar common law to such a procedure. In the States one cannot simply change their name that easily. And when does successfully change it, there will always be a paper trail via official authorities.

In the USA one is only required to give their real name when signing official documents, or in court, or when asked to present ID (eg traffic stop). So outside of that, you can go socially by any moniker you want, simply tell people you meet "my friends call me ______" that way you are not exactly lying about your name.

But starting over via clean slate is something I would recommend before CTB. As you are just starting out, there are more possibilities open to you.

Try running away first and doing a startover. I'm not some staunch 'pro-lifer' but ctb should be done only as a last resort, after all possibilities have been explored—you owe this to yourself.

There's so much out there to see and experience and so many people to meet! Want you to come up with what's best for you!

I once thought about joining the French foreign legion.. Seemed like a good deal when I was younger.
