I think my neck might be too thick to reliably lose consciousness with a slipknot around my neck. If anyone here has any knowledge about this, please do help. How thick or thin does one's neck have to be before hanging becomes too hard to pull off sober?

For full suspension, it doesn't matter, as long as the slipknot is tight. Partial may be more difficult, but I believe not impossible.

There's nowhere for me to reliably carry out full suspension in my area, and also, it sounds like it's extremely painful.
How is partial more difficult than average? How much longer should it take?

You may just have a little extra padding over your Carotids. It shouldn't take any longer, maybe a little more force will be needed. If you're technique is good, I wouldn't worry.

I hope I'll succeed. My biggest problem is that I reflexively flex the muscles in my neck, which I believe is multiplying the amount of time I'd have to wait to go unconscious. Add to that the fact that they're already thick even when relaxed.. I think I'll try 30 seconds, but longer than that and I'm genuinely afraid of extending the problems I've got already. On that topic, I think I might ask for additional help on some dizziness issues I got after an attempt. Thanks, have a good day.

I've had the same problem with my neck. It's around 17 inches and I'm not a big person at all. I tried partial but I didn't feel anything. I'm going to try full suspension as a trial and just see how much I can persevere through. I'll cover my neck with a scarf or something soft to help squeeze the cartoids more. But I do feel your pain, thick necks are hard to squeeze. I notice that when I attempt, the slip knot moves up a little where my neck is so thick, I just want it to stay tight.

Yeah. Tried for 10, 20 twice and 30 seconds flat today and I'm not passing out. Just getting really red. It's almost as if some kind of SI is making me flex my neck to prevent me from fainting. I'm afraid of going over 30s because of brain damage. I think I might try to get drunk and do it, or get my hands on some kind of anxiety relaxant and do the same, but because of my.. Experience on earth, let's call it, I'm not able to reliably get either of those things without another (specific) person aiding me, that person being wildly against my choice to ctb.

oh ok, that doesn't sound great 30 seconds still no passing out. To be honest I'm just going for full suspension, rather than kicking the stall or chair, just sliding it out the way and jumping up in the air so my weight pulls down, only way to potentially get to pass out quicker.A lot of people have said if you go down fast and hard it has a better rate of succession. Good luck anyway :)

The thing with full suspension is that the people who didn't struggle are those who had their necks broken, while the ones who did looked like they were in absolute agony. I don't wanna go out painfully- I might as well jump in front of a train if that's the case, since it'd probably be more effective. Good luck to you as well, though.

I know what you mean, going out painfully isn't ideal and its Not nice for anybody to see but in my eyes I'm just wanting to get out of here. for me it's getting to the point of any means necessary

I think that is a common misconception. In short-drop full suspension, it works the same way with partial. The pressure of the ligature will compress your carotids and make you pass out within seconds but while you are effectively unconscious the body will jerk and spasm in the same manner as in partial.

My neck isn't thick and I honestly had the same problem. I would hang myself so long that I would pop all the blood vessels in my face and it would take weeks to go away. I looked like I had a rash all over my face >_>. I would just go limp hanging from my neck or leaning into the rope and I would back out when I couldn't hold my breath anymore :/. I would try and find the sweet spot where I could breathe and would hopefully pass out but that's when I got the petechiae all over my face... This is why I'm trying to find fent because I'm afraid a full suspension would be me struggling in agony for 30 seconds until I pass out...

partial doesnt interest me anymore because I'm inpatient to find the sweet spot. Full suspension means I may struggle for a bit but I get the job done whether it's pretty or not.30 seconds of agony or a lifetime of pain living I know what I'd pick
