  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Ending the suffering

I may not know the people here, but we all share something in common that's why we're here. Many of us come hoping to leave and find peace. Some people recover, while others do not. Some live, some die, and some will spend their last moments here.

Although I don't know the individuals in this forum, I can't help but feel a sense of grief knowing that others are here too. When I see a "Goodbye" on here, my heart sinks a little bit. I hope they find peace, but I'm sorry that they met their breaking point. The world can be cruel, sadly. I know they put up their best fight, but sometimes life continues and takes the upper hand.

I feel a sense of communal mourning on this forum. Some posts are like a ghost of those who've gone- a little of who that person was, or at least the side they allow us to know. Although we do not know each other personally, we have made our way here. We share something, and we share being here. We wish everyone may find peace and we wish to find our own.

Trapped in this Suffering

To be honest for me I don't feel grief or anything negative from people here dying but instead I just feel glad and happy for them that they are no longer suffering tho this cus I don't view suicide and death to be the bad thing here at all in any case but instead the unbearable suffering they are experiencing. I actually feel sad when attempts fail as they weren't able to get what they wanted in that moment and their pain still continues.

Tho there's one exception to when one member died that I missed him quite a bit and that is @ijustwishtodie . probably what was different in this case was they had a lot of activity here and that he had views on life, death and suicide that are closer to mine which is rare even here so I kinda felt more lonely without someone more like me here.

Ya I dont see death as bad I more feel sad that most people are here because life is the bad part. I dont think I worded my post properly, Im sad that when I see someone go it brings the reality of the situation we are all in that to us death is a better option than life itself. Life should have been something we wanted but death is something we feel a need for. I mourn the life of the individuals here not their death per sae.

Beautiful words, we all share something of ourselves here and have something in common. Saying goodbye for me is sad but with a shared understanding, bittersweet.

This forum is very much inbedded in our society and culture. Over all that is the dictum that death and not existing is bad, sad and a system error. Otherwise mourning would be replaced by something positive like happyness.

I replied to someone else saying I worded my post wrong. I dont see death as bad nor sad for the individual. I think life is the hard, sad and bad part. The mourning I feel for this for forum is for the living experience of the people here not the death. It's not the same mourning feeling I got when my friend was murdered. I never saw my friends death as bad (tho unjust ya) as that was when his suffering stopped. I grieved the pain and fear he felt before his death not the death itself. I find comfort in knowing they're at peace.

I also share your sadness and perspective. In part, we mourn for ourselves. The selfish part of us may well miss the continued support of members we got closer to here. I also agree though, there's something generally tragic about suicide. I suppose I see it as a mirror being held up. The ultimate reflection on a person's life. The public revelation that they were indeed struggling and suffering that much that they risked hurting themselves to put a stop to it. It's definitely so sad that life can feel so bad that it pushes us to that point.

I also agree though that there's something beautiful that a part of them will be left behind here. I guess that depends on our own individual perspectives. Some would prefer to eradicate all evidence of their existence from the face of the earth. I like the idea of traces being left behind though. Not that I expect anyone to be all that interested but, still.
