tested positive for Gastroparesis I don't want to die but now my suffering is probably never gonna end. Im going to try last till the pain gets too bad to handle.
I have severe Gastroparesis and in UK there is next to little help at all for the horrible and devastating condition. I only have 10% function of my stomach/insides and survive on 2 foods and even that is agony, even water is to get down. I also have many other physical illnesses and life is very very hard, then sadness and grief on top of that.............life/existence can be unbareable. I am sad you have Gastro-P as its one the most understated and ignored conditions out there, in my opinion unless you happen to live in a country where there are specialist Doctors who actually dedicate their entire working life to this type of thing. Here if you ever need to talk.tested positive for Gastroparesis I don't want to die but now my suffering is probably never gonna end. Im going to try last till the pain gets too bad to handle.
Causes intense constipation which is especially dangerous with this. Please excuse a potentially stupid question, but why don't analgesics work?
Also its not exactly the kind of pain you are familiar with, its more like incredibly bad discomfort and bloating. Please excuse a potentially stupid question, but why don't analgesics work?
So gastroparesis is literally a paralysed stomach, so food stays in your stomach too long and causes severe pain. Please excuse a potentially stupid question, but why don't analgesics work?

Depends on the cause, I don't know mine yet.I see. Please excuse another potentially stupid question, but are there any alternative forms of treatment?
There are some drugs, like Meto. Sometimes surgery. Sometimes feeding tubes. The last time I had it, it just randomly went away. But I spent about 8 months on TPN, which is nutrition through IV first.I see. Please excuse another potentially stupid question, but are there any alternative forms of treatment?

It hurts so much, you'd need narcotics and such, but one of their bad side effects is slowing the stomach down more. Which leads to more food being left in the stomach, which leads to more pain, which leads to needing more painkillers...
It's kind of a hell spiral.
I just got rediagnosed with it myself, yesterday. Devastating.
Actually, yes. I don't know how common it is, but I've heard of people getting abdominal pacemakers implanted for this. One of the causes is damage to the vagus nerve, and they found it helpful to stimulate. But I think that's one of the last resort options.I have to admit that I can't imagine what it must be like. It must be frustrating that the treatment methods are so lacking. What about neurostimulators? Over here, they are only used experimentally so far, but the results are very promising.
But I think that's one of the last resort options.
Its a $40000 procedure don't know how that can be realisticWell, if it's pushing you to the verge of suicide, I'd say that it's time for last-resort options.
True, true. I completely agree. Some doctors don't see it that way, though. Like, mine just told me he didn't want to try medication because of side effects, so I should just watch my diet and screw the pain. Ridiculous. I'm going over his head.Well, if it's pushing you to the verge of suicide, I'd say that it's time for last-resort options.

Its not like it covers everything something like that you might get a $500 rebate or something. It covers shit like GP appointments and emergency surgeries.Don't you have a public healthcare system in Australia? Or am I misinformed?
