The 150-foot (46-meter) structure opened in 2019 as the highlight of the Hudson Yards development on Manhattan's West Side in New York. This climbable sculpture, featuring zigzagging stairs, attracted numerous tourists. However, it was closed to the public in 2021 after several individuals got their self deliverance by jumping from it. It reopend today!
Now it has steel mesh barriers on most of its upper levels, encasing four stairwells and their adjoining platforms. The lower levels are still wide open but security guards are in place.
How long until there is another success there? Time will tell.
