Just to open a discussion about the 3 day rule that lostallhope.com talks about. Great website by a good writer and survivor. We are all survivors so far.

I've been deeply suicidal for many months after the collapse of my romantic relationship, lifestyle and then social relationships and blah blah you know how it goes.

When it comes time to CTB I feel like I needn't wait any longer because not only have I felt suicidal over the 3 day rule but it's been months now. What do you think ? Methods considered drop hanging and SN. N too but risks are quite high considering ordering methods.

What's the 3 day rule? I assume some timeframe to avoid impulsive ctb?

It helps to read the information on the site. I figured anyone here would have been there at some time. It talks about how if you're ready, really ready to CTB, wait 3 days and see how you feel then. See if anything changes. Wait another week. If you've made it this far, what's another couple of days?

But we all know how hard those days can be.

After the loss of a long-term partner by death it usually takes about 4 years for a person to return to equilibrium. Breakup of a relationship, or other traumatic social events, won't take that long to recover from, but it may still take a long time. My own view is that if you are dealing with a situation that is temporary (even if "temporary" means quite a long time) you should not do anything. Even a couple of years is short in comparison with the duration of a life. On the other hand, if the situation is permanent and you know it won't change (e.g. incurable cancer), and it has long been your intention to end your life in that situation, then I would just tidy up my affairs and do it.

Or a really slack limitation on how long food can stay on the floor and still be edible! :haha:

Is 3 days enough ? If your brain is incapacitated with depression for instance, that's not gonna be enough for your judgement to evolve much and you'll take a troubled decision. Why not several months to have your rationality mindset clear over varied periods ?
