Hello,

I know that many people have this problem and so far I have not found a reliable solution. I've already read that many of you have difficulties to pass out during a compression of the arteries.

To me: I plan to CBT with hanging. Therefore I have tried very often to suppress the neck arteries with my fingers. It went over and over again according to the same pattern: I press on the carotid artery, feel my consciousness saying goodbye, press harder, I am close to unconsciousness, press even harder, and then: nothing. Everything returns to normal while I press on the artery as hard as never before. I tried different places, but always everything went according to the same pattern. I just can't explain it to myself. Does anyone else have the same problem? What is the explanation for this? Again: While I press on the artery, I feel that I am about to pass out (within seconds). Then, a few seconds later, everything returns to normal although I keep pressing.

I don't have any answers for you, but this has been my problem as well. I've attempted four times now by partial hanging and backed out about 40 seconds to a minute in because the exploding head thing would freak me out and I was afraid I'd do permanent damage with dying. I've thought maybe of placing something on whatever the ligature may be, around the size of an egg, so there is more pressure on only the carotid artery. Haven't tried yet. I wonder if anyone has tried a similar method? I read once someone mentioned it worked for him, rolling up socks, but that's it. I also imagine I'll need more pressure than what my fingers or hands can give from practice and more weight than just the top of my body. . almost full suspension but still able to touch the ground with my feet. I don't know. I've since found a partner and trying to wait out this virus so we can travel and ctb together by another method. I'll go back to this if that fails, though.

This always happens to me too! I never understood why. Hanging isn't my method, but I like to try to make myself pass out when I'm really anxious or upset. Whenever I try though, this always happens.
