I wrote this essay when I was really going through it earlier this month. It details how problems in life seems to invite more problems and create a downward spiral that's really hard to get out of. Still considering suicide... But honestly, I don't want to die. I just want things to get better. Enjoy my essay:

I have to agree that life is, in fact, getting shittier.

My parents talked about how they got a simple job when they turned 18 and were able to rent their own apartment just by having that job (a job that didn't require schooling, certificates, etc...).

Now I'm turning 30 this month and I have to say, it's hard to even find an affordable ROOM to rent. It seems like employers want to squeeze every last drop of labor out of you as if they were squeezing a lemon for juice. But when it comes to pay, it's hard to find wages that enable you to even GET BY.

Because the cost of living has gone up, the cost of living for people who own businesses has also gone up. One person today is expected to produce the same output at work as 2 people would have been 20 or so years ago because small business owners can't really afford the payroll... Or so they say. Corporations? That's a whole other story.

And if you really want to change yourself for the better and get that degree, you need to sacrifice sleep time to get these classes done. Factor in the time it takes to attend the class, the amount of hours needed to study to pass the exams, the time in takes to go to and from class as the traffic keeps getting worse each year... And add a full time job to all this if you're lucky enough to have full time work. If you're like many people, you have 2 part time jobs just to get by... And one job often interferes with the other job in some way. Losing both these jobs is a major concern because of this factor. So what do you need to do? Save up your money for when that day might come. By the time you've saved up enough money, and it has taken an unreasonable amount of time to accumulate, some problem comes along. And of course the problem requires money to fix. Your car breaks down, it's the holiday season and someone bought you a gift so you have to buy one back, you get a speeding ticket for going 10 over because the cop singled you out from all the other drivers because he didn't like how shitty your car looked in comparison to the other drivers who were going 15 over, etc... And of course, the cost to fix these problems go up each year... Making it an almost impossible task to actually save up (and keep) any substantial amount of money needed to bring you to the next level.

Perhaps stresses from all these factors has you pissed off with life. Aggression comes out in ways that surprise you and you end up being the lucky recipient of a brand new criminal record. Those expensive problems before- remember those? Now your problem is you need a lawyer. How much to go to trial? $20,000 he says... And that's just the initial cost. Sadly, legal defense is not an option for you. Guess you'll have to stick with the public defender which means that even if you should be found not guilty, you probably will be.

That record makes getting a shitty job difficult, let alone a good one. Now when employers hire you they expect even more from you because you have that record and they know that you know they were "nice enough to hire you." Now you feel like a bitch. And because you just got out of jail, you know that being a "bitch" is the worst thing you could ever be. There goes your self esteem along with your dreams. But the rest of the world still expects you to pull your weight. All the while not making conditions any easier for anyone. Start your own business now as a last resort? Would be great... Except for the start up money needed and the fact that getting a professional license is virtually impossible with that record. Licenses needed to become a lock smith, real estate agent, hazmat endorsed truck driver, etc...? NOPE. Guess you should wait the required 7 years it takes to even be eligible to APPLY for your certificate of rehabilitation; the document that restores your civil liberties and make you eligible for your professional licenses again. Only problem with that is that the courts rarely grant these. Even if you really have been living a good, honest life since your legal troubles. Guess it's time to bust your ass for 7 more years and live paycheck to paycheck just for a shot at rolling the dice.

And then factor in more problems coming some how, some way, in addition to all that... Because they always seem to. And because your so used to having all these problems, your subconscious mind has latched on to the idea of always having more problems. So that's what you get via the law of attraction.

In your desperation you decide to study the writings of the self help gurus, who always say that success is only about how you think about things... "Just think positive." Just read the book reviews, these books all have 20,000 5 star ratings from customers who have changed their life by just "thinking positive." But it's hard for you because you're not used to having things go your way, so how could you possibly adapt that winning mindset when you're so used to losing? Now you're in that 10% of people who that "think positive" crap didn't work for. And you begin to feel that this problem is unique to you and only you... Because everyone else seems to be winning all the time. Now you're struggling your ass off to even live AND this feeling of helpless loneliness begins to drown you out. But even if everyone shared this problem, "would it even matter?" you think to yourself... You'd still be struggling just the same even if everyone else was going through it.

At this point maybe you just wait for the next biggest problem to come your way. Hoping that it will be big enough to destroy you completely... because honestly, at this point you want to be destroyed. You want something to give you enough motivation to finally end it all because you're too scared to do something like that yet because things somehow haven't quite gotten THAT bad yet. So you hang on to that tiny sliver of hope that you're gonna "make it someday." But your not lucky enough to get problems big enough to push you to the point of suicide, you get just enough problems to bring you right up to the breaking point but not quite there yet.

And life goes on. Another day, another week, another month, another year.

I really have difficulty taking control in most parts of my life. It's just that there are so many external factors that need to be considered.

2008 like 1929 .. Ten years later it creeps on society - everyone overstretched, stressed, aggressive, angry :)

Really good writing, short in time, will delve into it later.

Jason, I empathize with your story more than you can imagine. I don't think you're in the minority here

40% of Americans cannot afford an emergency expenditure of just $400
https://money.cnn.com/2018/05/22/pf/emergency-expenses-household-finances/index.html

We live in a system that purposefully forces us into wage slavery. Someone in your position cannot possibly hope to get to the "next level" because there are so many endemic/circumstantial constraints to that pipe dream. Only 0.1% of people "make it," and they put them on a pedestal to make the rest of us think we can be them too.

But no, 99.9% of us will just be lower middle class wage slaves working 9 to 5 with overtime with a shitty job with shitty pay and shitty benefits, all to keep this rotten system going and allow the super accumulation of wealth by the capitalists arbitrarily at the top of the hierarchy.

You are not alone. All suffer, but your main concern from what I see is that you are too lucid... too self aware of how fucked up everything is. So it eats at you slowly, like it does me

Feel free to read this collection of venting by people over the years just as fed up as you are. It's at least an interesting read for your perspective

My friend, I appreciate your kind words. Though the system is fucked, there are still a lot of good people left like you and me. We should become the prototype of what the majority should be like. Truth be told, most people aren't as bad as this system makes them out to be. The human spirit will prevail

You call yourself @CrazyJason. I could not agree more. I have not read a more succinct yet damning indictment of life here than what you wrote. Brilliantly stated, factual, and sadly true. Thank you for putting this terrific bill of particulars against our society out for all to see. Hats off to you, and only the best wishes for such an astute observer as you.

Some member here has an great quote after their avatar/ I cannot exactly quote it, but it is something like: "If you are calm when everyone else is going insane, you don't recognize there is a problem." It was much better put than that, but your observation above reminds me of that. I don't get mass insanity, but it is out there. Are we sheep, going off the cliff by following?"

I think people like you and me are the non-sheep. Follower mentality is praised these days. The true visionaries of a better world are shunned. 100 years ago, we were the majority. And if all those people who are no longer with us would reserect, they would side with us... Not the modern masses.

The real problem is the central banking and federal reserve. If a few ruling class elite control the money system they can enslave the world. With this power they have been able to alter the normal order. They can use your taxes to fund all kinds of social engineering projects and wars that nobody wants. They shipped the good jobs out of the country. They lie to the young to trap them into debt slavery for worthless degrees. They are replacing whites in our own countries with mass third world immigration. They destroyed the family and remove the father out of the home which leaves children vulnerable to poverty and to become criminals with mental health problems. All of this made possible by the ability to print money and inflate the currency making it lose all value over time. This is why your money goes less and less far so it feels like u can barely afford anything. It will only get worse until we are in hyperinflation. Then there will be starvation and a whole lot of suffering as if there isn't now, but it has not hit the point where it's on a mass scale yet. We already have a lot of communism and socialism in the US but because of brainwashing pple to think free market capitalism causes the collapse of the economy. Free market would rescue the economy if the government would just get out of the way.

Excellent essay, it sums up the general life of an American citizen and a lot of us are struggling. While I am only (temporarily) staying with my parents, I could easily have been the homeless person had they decided not to take me in. However, my life is still in shambles with personal and also worldly issues as well.

Yep. I'm by no means homeless. I live with my girlfriend and we have a baby on the way. But the amount of homeless people has dramatically increased over the years. People just decide to give up because the amount of work required to barely get by is really bad. People I guess feel that it would be better to not have a home than to have one but with a million added stresses.

Thank for your compliment on my essay!
The real problem is the central banking and federal reserve. If a few ruling class elite control the money system they can enslave the world. That is definitely the real problem. Lol.

What happens is these rich "elite" people on top decide that an infinite amount of money is not enough. They always need a little more. Unfortunately their psychological sickness that leaves them always wanting more leaves us with always having less. At some point in the history of the world, a group of people convinced the masses that everyone just doing their part in society wasn't enough. They had to create currency. And that is where the mess we are currently in all started.

Granted, currency did bring in a lot of new & cool things. Technology and all that good stuff... Probably wouldn't have existed without currency. But a problem came attached to this new system, the problem being the human condition- Greed. It's a psychological sickness to have all the money in the world and still feel like you need to squeeze every last drop you can out of people who barely get by.

Money is actually not the root of all evil. Money is a tool of exchange that's more effective than bartering. In this respect it's a good invention the only problem is when the government controls it and not the people. So basically the centralized control over it is the problem. When u have sound money like what the goal of crypto currency probably was. That was probably the true goal, is a decentralized money system that cannot be manipulated by the wealthy elite who want to control all of us and our economic well being. Also crypto is hard to steal especially if it's the untraceable like Monero. So the government cannot know what u have or what you're buying it's anonymous. So they can't come confiscate your money that easily.

I like OP's post, he perfectly describes what are my views regarding life in the shithole that is our current world. Things are only going to get worse as effects of climate change continue to get exponentially worse, unemployment worsen, recession hits, the migration crisis continues, crypto-fascists start to take power, and completely batshit crazy economic projects every serious economists would have laughed at 30 years ago such as total privatization of public sectors are enforced everywhere across the world (especially if you live in the European Union). People don't complain anymore when you hit them, so why not wipe them out of all their important rights so we can profit more off their back?
Most people in this thread are focusing on secondary issues, and not on structural problems that lies deep inside the Capitalist system we currently live in, putting more regulation on corporations will not solve anything since they have been found out to cheat on them and still get away with it, this is especially true if you live in America. As long as there is an incentive to make more profit by pushing for harsher work conditions, corporations will always do their best to make it a reality.

To go back to the subject of OP's post, I think it's missing a key point, the worst thing for me so far has been loneliness, I've been mostly alone all my life, and I think most of it is due to the modern alienation and objectification of human being that you've perfectly described in your post, people are from childhood forced to adopt a confrontational attitude toward other, they must dominate other or they will be dominated, that mentality is reflected in most if not all human relationship such as employment ("you're my bitch now because you work for me"), love, that has gotten even worse since social media have become a thing ("you're my bitch now, you have to obey and give me money or I will find someone better than you"), education ("you're my bitch now, obey to me and don't come in late or I will fuck your record (and by extension, your life) up"), and even in general, if you don't have anything to directly give to other people they will reject you, and if you get accepted, prepare to be used like a simple tool.
If you don't watch the latest shitty new shows/movies/animes/video games don't even think you will be able to hold a reasonable conversation with anyone. And if you dare to reject these things as the cash-grabbing schemes they are, prepare to be called a douche or a boring person for ruining their sacred "fun". Nobody has a real hobby anymore, most people are in for the aesthetics and not because they are actually interested by what they are doing. This has led to the rise of superficial culture like "vloggers" and "influencers" and for even more braindead people, memes and vines. Meeting with other people irl is useless since most of them are retards who won't hesitate to call you a loser or cringy if you dare to trespass their abstract line of socially acceptable things, they don't understand what you feel and don't want to. They will try to shame into submission anyone saying things they don't like.
I have yet to meet someone irl who wasn't instantly crept out when you tell them that you find things like Star Wars or Avengers to be boring. The only way to talk without being shunned for me has been to meet people on the Internet, but it isn't sufficient, you can't just talk to other people through a screen, it's bound to make you go crazy. This is one of the main reasons I choose to end it, living constantly surrounded by retards or in isolation has fucked my brain beyond repair, I don't think I'll ever get out of this hell hole.

Welcome to Trump's America.
That's a really stupid thing to say, America has alway been shit, and will remind so after he leave. It's called the American Dream for one reason. I'm not American but I know for a fact that most people around the world prefer Trump because he's not as interventionist as crazy people like Bush, Obama or Hillary Clinton (who push for war against Russia). Democrats have also been pushing for anti-labors laws and deportations, they are just hypocrites who approve when Obama does it and cry like babies when Trump does it.

You aren't American. No offense. You don't know what is happening from your news sources which is leaked to the public. It isn't the reality of the situation.

Similar to Nazi Germany. They were experts in propaganda.

Due to my occupation, I am well versed with politics in many different nations from first hand experience. It is my personal policy, even when asked for my opinion on Brexit or something similar, I will not respond. It isn't my place. Despite my personal dealings, I feel as if it isn't my place as I am not a citizen, and even though I have more personal knowledge than most, but my primary source is propaganda.

My partner was from the UK. Very active politically. People who I work with were surrogates for various political parties. I still feel I am not qualified nor should speak for something I am not actually a part of.

Again. My opinion. And you are entitled to feel whatever you want about a county you are not a citizen of.

I am not pro-trump, that's not what I meant, of course Trump is an asshole, of course he has made life harder for many American. What I am arguing is that this was already the case before and I'd even argue that's it's been all going downhill since FDR died. The Democrats, who are called "Progressives" doesn't deserve that label at all, at least 95% of them don't, they have been actively collaborating with Republicans against American workers and immigrants.
Let's be honest here, do you really think everything bad happening in America is happening because of Republicans? If it wasn't for the Democrats allowing it, it wouldn't be happening. The problem is, the Dems and Republicans need to exist to allow the current system to function.

And regarding your comment telling me that I don't know what's happening in America, I'm sorry to tell you that I (rather unfortunately) know better than most American what is happening in their country, I don't want to brag about it but there are very few medias that are decent in my country so I mostly watch American ones, and this made me learn many things about America and how its citizens are poorly treated, especially compared to me who live in Europe. I suggest you read people like Michael Parenti or watch Caleb Maupin and Richard Wolff who have been describing how American politicians are actively sabotaging any attempt at creating a successful social movement that could unite all of the American by creating ethnic and class tensions between the working and middle class.

No offense. You are on a forum. People are anonymous. One has no clue with whom one is actually speaking to, and you have no idea who I am.

As I said. You are entitled to your opinion. :)

Climate change is a political scam pushed by the elites so don't worry it's actually not a thing. The climate might change but it's not the reason for many of the problems. If anything the people pushing this the climate change nonsense are flying private jets polluting the shit out of the ozone. It's only for us that they want poverty, no heat, bed bugs, terrible living conditions, while they live their wasteful extravagant lifestyles parasiting off the citizenry through taxation and other extortion fees.

Climate change is proven by science, it's real, of course for the moment we aren't experiencing huge problems regarding it. But in the future we will.

They have been pushing climate change propaganda since I was like age 10 and I'm 42 now and everything is the exact same as when I was a kid. I remember in third grade they pushing the climate propoganda in gov school. And overpopulation. It's directed at whites mainly to get us not to breed or think there's too many people, meanwhile the average Hispanic or Muslim woman has like 5 kids average to replace us. The progressives want to replace whites worldwide and the reason seems to be because they can't control the higher iq people as easy so they are discouraging us from having and being able to afford or risk having kids.
