The most peaceful planets are the ones devoid of life. All organisms need to work in order to survive, thrive, and reproduce. The work includes obtaining and securing resources (e.g. food, water, minerals, gases for respiration, building materials, ect.), obtaining, securing and/or creating shelter; maintaining their overall health, avoiding danger, defending themselves against competition, predators, parasites, diseases, ect., protecting their offspring, mates, and/or group members; and producing and/or raising their offspring. The costs of these activities are energy, time, resources, and even the overall health of the organism. Not to mention the countless conspecific and interspecific conflicts occurring.
