About half an hour ago, I tried to call the crisis line. I got through once, and they hung up on me immediately (this also happened last week).

After I tried to call back, I realized that they blocked me - for whatever reason.

So much for "you can call here anytime".

There is another number (same helpline), but they are constantly busy. If I try to call too often, I might get blocked there, too.

So the message is: shut the fuck up, we don't care (that I can still understand), just kill yourself.

Many thanks.

One might assume that they have a good reason to block me, but I honestly don't get it. In the last two weeks, I've talked to them maybe two or three times - is that too much (seriously asking)? I always try to be friendly, never drop the call, even if I feel that the person I'm talking to doesn't understand me. I thank them every time for the time they take to talk to me and that's what I get.

Thank you and fuck you.

You are probably right.

I don't know what these hotlines are for.
Probably only to intercept acute emergency situations and then organise further help.

You can't and shouldn't expect more than that.

I think that you will find a sympathetic ear here at SS.

But of course this cannot replace a real conversation, a friend or therapy.

I know how you feel @http-410 .I've called Samaritans a few times without success, and what's worse is that there isn't even some hold music or a messave saying "please wait, we'll talk to you as soon as someone is free", just the sound of a phone ringing and ringing with nobody picking up - somehow I find that sound really depressing. I'm sure they provide a great service, if you can get through.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I can imagine it must be alienating having that source of contact cut off. I thought the whole purpose of a crisis line was for that there was always somebody there to talk. And yet society constantly tells you to seek help, to use these crisis lines. I personally do not see them as helpful in my situation, but I get how it can be a source of support for others. So many people have been let down by these services. I wish you well.

Wow. Just wow. I can't believe something like this could actually happen. That's a first. And then they go and talk about how life is precious and whatnot, and how people shouldn't kill themselves. Such hypocrites.
I'm so sorry you had to encounter something like that…..

That is dreadful and inhumane, unless there is a genuine technical issue.. But Wow.. Please don't EVER take this personally http  This is NOT about you. It is their JOB to talk to vulnerable and suicidal people on the brink and for them to do this (if it indeed is what we think) they show a complete lack of professionalism and human decency. The worst suicidal crisis' can last for much more than one call and they should know that.

This is a reflection of their piss poor service and ethics - not you or your worth, or that you "annoy people" or are a "burden" or whatever self-blaming things we may think when we are treated so harshly for no reason.

I had a week long breakdown where I cried continuously when I thought I was going to be homeless. I called the Samaritans every day, some days probably three times. I never felt like a burden - they never mentioned how often I called - (I did have one A hole who seemed annoyed at me comparing my family's treatment of someone else to mine but nothing like this).

They are not very compassionate people and that workplace is probably full of bitchy people who don't like their jobs and haven't a compassionate, emotionally mature bone in their bodies. Report them if you can.
