Is it possible to pass out by just tightening a rope around the neck ? I think I read it in some book

No anchor point or knot, just tightening it to test it so that when you pass out, the rope untightens then you wake up.

Had antone tried it ? Is it possible or is hanging mandatory to pass out ?

Yes, you can CTB through this method but I think people underestimate how much pressure you truly need to do this comfortably. It was my original method of choice but I couldn't get it right.

If you look at the ligature strangulation megathread in the resource page, there is more info.

EDIT: Not sure this is something that's testable though? I think once you pass out with this method, it's over unless it coincidentally loosens itself.

The aim is not to CTB but to test the rope by tightening it around the neck, so that when you pass out, the rope losen up then you wake up.

The ignore feature is so handy :halo:

I genuinely do not understand what you're trying to do? Pass out for fun? Make a joke? What?

Perhaps it is possible, if you have enough strength to achieve it.

That 'technique' is quite common in BDSM 'breath play' videos. Although in most cases it is one person who is strangling the other.

oh right. Thanks for clarifying. Perhaps the OP somehow ended up in the wrong forum for asking that question.

I practiced by throwing the end of the rope over a beam and pulling it with my hands instead of anchoring it. That way when I passed out, I would let go and the rope would loosen. I never fully passed out, but I got close enough to where I was satisfied that my setup would work.

What was the thickness of your rope ?

No matter how hard I press I can't pass out. Maybe for some people carotids are just too deep

I have a 12mm mooring rope.

I think anatomy definitely plays a role. Some people here seem to be able to find the "sweet spot" right away and some can not find it at all.
