It's scary as fuck. I have been neglecting my teeth again. I really should brush and use salt water rinses more. Too stupid to floss properly. Sigh.

You know I lost a couple of teeth. But I would wiggle them for 1 year until they fall out. If you have tooth pain don't pay the ridiculous amount the dentist wants. Just wiggle the tooth for a long period of time and endure the pain.

Welcome to my world, at 42 the self neglect is unbearable. Missing the odd day doesn't cause this. Years and years of suffering, this is where it leads to. An nhs who sends you home when you tell them you're suicidal. When the ambulance service take you to hospital tell them you're living in filth, and they send you home. You've got a good few years in you yet, brush your teeth and do everything you can to avoid this, because there is no fixing it my friend.

Natural mate, stress does that to you lol. I went grey when I was 21.
IMG 0597 There have been happier times. But few and far between. Don't care about my image being out there any more as I have a plan set. This was my girl Georgie, she landed on my head one day and didn't leave until she passed away. Miss her so much. But anyway….brush your teeth mate. Once they are gone they are gone. No amount of regret brings them back. It hurts like a motherf**cker and no amount of crying yourself to sleep brings them back. I had problems with mine since i was 18, grinding them, and my jaw would often dislocate because of bruxism. The only thing I can offer you is words of wisdom. I wish someone had told me the same 20 years ago

jfc I literally curled up and had mouth pain just looking at that tooth.

I too have had mouth pain from neglect. When I get depressed (when am I not?) hygiene is one of the first things to go and I definitely spent a few years not taking care of my teeth. Had mouth pain and dentist told me my gums were receding and they do not grow back. That was the kick in the pants I needed. I am far from perfect but I realized the sacrifice of brushing 2x/day is well worth not being in pain. I hate flossing so I purchased one of those waterpiks. Not as good as floss but better than nothing.

Am so sorry, my friend. You deserve so much better. All of us do.

I haven't ever sought psychiatric help. It's still a big taboo in my part of the world. Plus there is always the poverty that makes things out of my reach : )

Anyway I started losing hair at the age of 21. Female hair loss. So I relate to your hair stuff i guess

Please learn to floss if you can. I hear it is very useful to get rid of plaque

I tried to inbox you just to say thanks for offering to chat mate, really decent of you but sadly don't think it would help me. I've got a plan and it's thought out. Really kind of you though. Alan

It should mate, I have gone 4/5 years without even showering at times and the services do nothing about it. Nobody is going to save you in that sense and at times the pain in my mouth has been near unbearable. I'm so ashamed of it but it is what it is. If I can show you the reality of what will happen to you then I guess it's a good thing. Cos it ain't pretty and it only leads to worse things, I can't stand to be around anyone anymore. Can't even look my dad in the eye anymore.

I had a bad case of self-neglect myself. I'd brush my teeth for about 10 seconds with no real intention as I just couldn't see the point. Lots of plaque became tartar and my gums bled a lot. Stayed like this for a long while. I ended up going to the dentist and having gum disease treatment which was just a very deep clean. Caught it just in time and had no bone loss but I do have some gum recession. It means it's really easy to get bleeding gums now so I've had his ritual of using interdental brushes for like 14 years. One of the few things I'm very disciplined with.

One of the odd paradoxes...suicidal and very low self-worth yet trying to maintain hygiene and health insofar as I can.
