My results do not surprise me

Purpose in Life Quiz Results

Your purpose score is 21 out of 70, indicating a low level of purpose.
Purpose is an abiding intention to achieve a long-term goal that is both personally meaningful and makes a positive mark on the world. The goals that foster a sense of purpose are ones that can potentially change the lives of other people, like supporting your company's mission, creating art, or teaching kids to read.
Your score suggests that you haven't yet found such a purpose. Of course, purpose evolves over our lifetimes. It's normal for our sense of purpose to wax and wane throughout life, and to go through stages when you're searching for your new or renewed purpose. If you're young, you may still be figuring out what matters to you. You might find yourself at a crossroads in your life, when one purpose has been accomplished (such as raising children) and you're looking for a new one. If you feel isolated or depressed, you may find yourself wondering if life is meaningful or if you matter, compromising your sense of purpose.

I think I would have achieved a higher sense of purpose a couple of years ago :/

My score is 38. Which is quite low.

I think what these results tell us is that 1) we're not alone and 2) we might be going through a though period

It's probably a combination of factors (cost of living, job market, politics [division], relationships, spirituality).

Do you have at least one safe person with whom you can talk to, openly, without being judged and, dare I say, bring up in discussion the lack of purpose you feel in your life?

Wtf, the quiz is the equivalent of asking "do you have a purpose in life"

I got 27, but I reject the premise of the quiz that it's necessary to have a "purpose" in life. The happiest people are usually those who aren't constantly asking themselves if they have a purpose.

I got 29, and I agree with what some others said. I feel like existing should just be enough. Having a purpose might make someone feel better about themselves and their place in the world, but the world and society at large makes you feel like you should have a purpose and contribute to society or otherwise you're a waste of space and not contributing therefore you are a waste of resources. Just existing should be enough, with or without a purpose.

It goes without saying that it's ok, as the quiz suggests, to ebb and flow in life regarding your life's purpose. It is, however, a core need we all have and part of the highest level on Maslow's pyramid (achieving actualization). It's ok if you never got there, who am I to say you'll never get there? And you know, it takes what it takes. It might be a while, it might not. I do think, however, that having a purpose in life and not feeling suicidal go hand in hand. If you haven't watched the video I shared with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, you should watch it and you'll understand what I'm talking about (it's in the recovery category forum, titled "Watch this if you feel suicidal"). This is to address the points you folks raised, which are totally valid. If you felt invalidated in any way, shape or form, know that I'm sorry and that that wasn't my intention with this post. Please do take care of yourself, and, ask yourself: what are your strengths and how can you lean into them to derive purpose in your life? And if you don't know your strengths, would you be willing to explore the subject with a trained professional specialized in treating complex trauma?

27 out of 70.

I'm mostly sure that my purpose in life is just to end it before I hurt too many other people by continuing to exist.
