It seems like almost everyone who wants to ctb by hanging prefers suspension over long drop.
Why do you think that is?
Seems to me like long drop method is the far more peaceful and sure-fire one. From what I could gather it makes you fall unconscious within milliseconds due to a broken neck, if done properly that is. Suspension, in comparison, leaves you hanging and painfully suffocating for a considerably longer time. Giving SI time to kick in while also giving you ample time to regret what you've done.
What makes suspension the preferred method of suiciders all over the world? Anyone who puts thought into how they want to die should arrive at the conclusion that long drop > suspension. At least I think that's how it should go.
Some pros/cons for both methods:
Suspension:
Pros:
-relatively quick loss of consciousness
-relatively little/short time of pain
-no need for a lot of planning
-can be done almost everywhere
-can be backed out of if one decides fast enough and doesn't do full suspension
Cons:
-pain for a few seconds
-high chance of brain damage if found before death
-SI can kick in and make your last moments ones of regret and painful struggle
-thrashing around which can potentially alert nearby people
-thrashing around which can undo the rope or break anchor point
Long drop:
Pros:
-almost instant loss of consciousness
-less pain than suspension
-less time for SI and regret to take hold
-if you mess up somehow and don't break the neck, it's still a suspension hanging
-no trashing around if done correctly
-less chance of being saved
Cons:
-needs more planning
-needs more knowledge
-cannot be done everywhere, needs a good location that provides strong anchor point and big enough drop
-cannot be backed out of once you begin the attempt
-you'll spend a lot more money on the rope
-good chance of messing up since you aren't a professional hangman
One last point idk where to put:
Long drop can decapitate you, which can be a positive or negative depending on your own thinking. It'd end you quickly and without chance of being saved as a vegetable, although it's probably not the way most people want to go.
So, considering all of this, what are your thoughts on the questions I asked above?
If you can think of any other pros/cons, please share them and I'll add them to the list.
