I agree. All these shotgun stories had one thing in common - aiming at the chin. That never made sense to me anyhow. Gotta aim at the roof of the mouth. The key is to hit the center of the brain at the closest range possible.

Google for "James Vance" as well. This young depressive person survived a gunshot back in the 80's (he died 3 months later). His mistake was the same. We can learn something from such cases : it's better to put shotgun right into the mouth, not under the chin.

People like her are so stupid by putting the barrel under the chin you create another barrier and with shotguns it´s mainly the blast that does the damage even though many succeed with putting it under the chin but she clearly held it in a 90 degree angle and blew her face off instead of 45 degree angle and aiming for the brain.

I never understood the logic behind aiming underneath the chin. I guess their goal is to blow their entire head off. ITS THE BRAIN THAT COUNTS! People can survive with a shocking amount of brain missing - especially the frontal lobe. That's what usually happens when people aim under the chin - a shotgun lobotomy.

This guy doesn't look too bad for a gunshot wound to the head.

Actually closer to mouth and 15 degree. You're looking to cause as much damage to the cerebellum and the brain stem area as possible, as those are the most vital areas of the brain and most fatal if damaged. Going up at a 45 degree angle will likely still be fatal (especially if using a slug, as the shockwave of it travelling through will demolish far larger than just the wound channel), but people have survived shots through the top of the head before - so I feel that this is risky. There's some decent information on this Quora post about how the physics of this works.

I completely agree the main part is to hit the brain stem and as you said destroying the frontal lobe don´t necessarily kill you some people are even alive while missing most part of their brain I am specifically thinking about a girl who got shot in the head and is missing almost half her brain and she is fine not not drooling or a vegetable like you would believe but just seems like a normal girl.

I've been looking into purchasing a gun. I'm not sure of a shotgun or handgun. I know nothing about guns in general...but looking at the people who just blow their face off and live is depressing.

There are many ways to fail with guns: using a small caliber weapon, shooting underneath the chin, or against the temples. Going through the mouth is obligatory.

I think movies are partially to blame. They make it look very easy and painless to die being shot in the head.
