According to your perception, literature you've read or reasoning, do you think it is favorable to "rehearse" or practice your method, go through the motions, rehearse gathering the courage to pull the trigger, jump or whatever your method is to get familiar with the sensations?

Or do you think it's counterproductive for some reason? I don't know if constantly interrupting the method (e.g. practicing partial hanging) will lead to also practicing stopping yourself from going all the way...

Or does it depend on the method?

I think it all depends on decision and method. If you happen to think about pulling the trigger, there's simply no going back. So it all depends on decision. For example, a rope suspended from a bench far from the ground; drop it and there's no going back.

Personally, I've had rehearsals. The reason for that is rather "pragmatic": I don't wanna botch it. This might be relevant to some methods, but you wouldn't want to be overcome with emotion at the last moment and fuck it up. Some methods also require somewhat complex setups that might require getting acquainted and familiar with, or that must be tested.

Secondly, it might help with SI. Maybe getting it down to a familiar set of easy instructions that you know like the back of your hand might make it easier to go through with it. But that might just be me.

Though keep in mind I "rehearse" with partial, but when the moment comes, it will be fsh, so even if I "practice stopping myself" like you said, that programming will be irrelevant on the day of.

Yeah I've rehearsed quite a bit. It's the dose of reality I need when I'm on the edge. I have a lot to prepare, gotta learn how to fire the gun and all that stuff. And what to do if I load a bullet and choose to not go through with it... etc. It's made me feel a LOT better, though, so maybe I'll just dry-fire until doing so doesn't make the pain bearable.
