Psychologists and Psychiatrists tend to burnout and suicidal thoughts. The suicide rate of them is higher than the average. In forums i have never met one though. Have you ever experienced a suicide of a doctor? Sometimes I am not sure whether i am a burden for some psychologists who really care about me.
Are you worried about being a burden to the professionals?
If so then please cease to worry. People make a choice to work in those fields and when they do if they are good at what they do they ensure that they have the correct boundaries and support to enable them to not 'take on' their clients issues. Burnout is a factor but is never the clients responsibility.
I know it can be difficult but you should never take on responsibility for your psychs well being. Hopefully your psych is functioning enough to do that for themself but even if they are not it is NOT your responsibility or any fault of yours.
Like the rest of us though psychs are just human and having the qualifications doesnt necessarily make them any better at managing their own stuff.
If you have had someone in charge of your care commit suicide it can be extremely distressing and feelings of guilt are common. Its important you talk that through with someone you trust.
Let me reassure you again ... it is never the clients responsibility or fault .... not ever.
