Emily Lavelle and her friends were bored after school one day and decided to call the suicide prevention hotline, listed on the back of their middle school student ID cards. It turned out to be the phone number for a sex hotline instead.

Oh wow, it looks like the school that is in charge of distributing these cards messed up! In all seriousness though, I would not wish to call that dreadful number, especially after learning what happens to people who admit to being suicidal and/or having plans, means to CTB. It just doesn't end well for them (forced psych hold, treatment, then billed for the services that was imposed on them, etc.). I could see however, that people who do that would benefit are those who might be impulsive on their decision to CTB.

For a those that are here being vrgns - wish they could also know that sx in kind of over rated and the dynamics involved with it within a lot of relationship can cause SO many problems & emotional hurt... in my experience anyway...that said can understand their problems too...

Yeah that are only really useful got people that are v.lovely & just need to talk in an immediate sense & feeling impulsively desperate - they are no good for anyone that has felt this way for a very long time & that had complex & multi faceted reasons for wanting to ctb - may as well chat to a brick wall in that case. They won't be able to help.

Yep - can be the cause of lots of problems, regrets, self worth destruction etc. But kind annoying that it's so innate and at times a sort of enjoyable thing as well...it's perverse as well in that such a basic act can result in life - the life that many of us are now stuck & suffering in... its really weird when you think about it...just my usual deep + dark thoughts

At least THAT might have given some a laugh. I've called suicide hotlines about half a dozen times in my life--first during freshman year in college. It was miserable every time. I had one woman tell me to get a cat. (?!?) And the guy I spoke with while nearly-comatose on the dirty hardwood floor of my freshman year common room actually told me after less than five minutes he was busy and had other people to get to. And he said it like he'd just taken my order for a pizza.

I'll NEVER-F*CKIN' EVER again call a suicide hotline. It's a waste of the effort it takes to use my fingers.
