Any Americans here wanting to discuss about the rising epidemic of suicide here in our country can speak so freely, with he corona epidemic and the mass hysteria raving on a fearing disease to our fellow 'less thoughtful' countrymen's feeble minds i am but afraid to admit that I honestly only see the rates of suicide dramatically increasing to the point that the future White House character will have to take desperate actions to combat the oncoming epidemic. With evidence supporting the theory that mental illness can indeed be inherited through genetic inheritance I am gravely fearful of a new possible mutation in the American genome that prompts children barely under the age of 10 to think and more disturbingly act out suicidal ideas, we may witness the rise of child focused anti-depressants in the near future.
The economy feels like it is about to burst again, fear is rampant and a great sea of the unknown is washing against the muddy dreams of our now long dead past, it is slowly but inevitably enveloping what remains of our placid island of despair.
This song is pretty much the theme for this horrifying future:

Hello, fellow dystopian.

It fucking sucks (for me, anyway) to be both aware of and impotent to do anything about this stuff. The current crisis comes as no surprise to me, only in how benign the virus is in direct relation to the hyperbolic response. Nice twist, bastards.

I'm not American but I suspect the same will happen in the UK. I feel for people who have never contemplated suicide before who will ctb because of purely economic and social reasons. That isn't right but it is the world we live in.

I noticed that r/suicidewatch became very active since last spring, almost a post per minute and majority of posters are really young people, it's very depressing.

It is indeed a very horrid thing to be so aware of this horror our country now faces. I dread and fear more for the upcoming children that will have to inherit such a brutal responsibility. An image comes to mind of a young girl sitting alone atop a bed of where her father used to be, she cries quietly while holding close to the last object that was his gift; a stuffed bunny. Divorced and unable to pay the demands of the state, the distant father committed suicide which then followed an attempted suicide by the mother of whom was unable to bear the new responsibility to the brutal credit economy/ mothering of the child. The child sits alone, crying through the endless agony of invisible daggers that dig their way into her youthful psychology, dreading the inevitable future a horrid thought of a quick escape invites itself into the impulsive child, suicide.
It's a fucked future
I'm going AFK for awhile, the last post made me super depressed just writing it. Go ahead people and talk away to each other!

I don't know if the rate is rising or not as I haven't seen the data. I get concerned that the healthcare industry here (I am in the US) doesn't actually like to classify people as dying from suicide. I feel that admitting there is an epidemic of suicide would be like admitting a failure to the conservative right. But I also could see the strongly religious conservative faction working to not classify deaths by suicide as being cause by mental health because in their thought, if you just believe then you would be "saved" and not commit suicide. I don't think the American healthcare industry can allow the full cost of mental illness to be paid for via insurance and medicare. It's not possible for there to be massive salaries and shareholder dividend if the full cost are handled as though this is a disease like the flu or appendicitis.

This doesn't make any sense.

People are fucking terrified of the pandemic because it keeps killing people, mostly the already marginalized, disabled, and criminalized, not because they're "f***** m*******."

What states of thinking and feeling are described as "mental illnesses" is entirely subjective, and even forms of psychological suffering and cognitive distortions that people can mostly AGREE they'd like to alleviate, are mostly brought on by trauma, environmental/social factors, or indeterminate reasons.

And no politician is under ANY compulsion to do anything about chaos, collapse - only to ensure that the rich fare better thru it than the poor.

It's mostly likely unclassified or under reported because of political reasons. Even under our current administration there has been nothing endless cult-like praising for the administration despite the job that were made ended up being lost mostly due to the corona pandemic. What's even more alerting is the fact is that the CDC hasn't released any new suicide numbers for 2019 and probably won't for 2020. Suicide is heavily under reported in Republican states despite the majority of suicides taking place in those same states, especially in Rural America. These zones are commonly called 'Sacrifice Zones' due to a lack of viable economic stability needed in order to maintain a flourishing American community. Especially the endless demands of the traditionalist right-wing figures that bash on the younger generation which mostly of whom is young men for not stepping up by finding a "real job" and marrying a woman to procreate so the invading illegals don't outproduce the traditional Americanas. People don't want to admit it but it is equally draining to live in such states that demands loyalty to the old traditions while struggling to live in the new Alien environment our country now finds itself in, living in a progressive democratic state is also draining because of the high costs and especially the draconian laws of the lingering Big Brother.

No one cares. Really, people are becoming so numerous and harder to feed, clothe, and care for that it's just fine if they die off from disease or by their own hands. People are increasingly viewed as inconvenient strays .... just like dogs and cats ....

I have wanted to die since I was a teen … long before Corona virus. I think for some Covid-19 could be a factor but for many, it's because life is so shitty. (My reason anyway)
Watching the rich just take more and more leaving the rest of us with nothing and no way to make it better.:angry::angry:
I wish I had died at 10 cuz it got shittier and shittier after that.

It's so much to take in I can't really put all my thoughts into words on this subject. Off the top of my head is that if this pandemic ever ends it will leave it's permanent scar on the U.S and the world in general, and it will be all the more bleak and terrible than it already was.

I've also wanted to die pre-Covid. Growing up in the USA sucked. A lot of pressure put on the citizens, especially psychological stress..., I think any country sucks in its own way.....because the human species is just rotten- Basically, I dislike human nature, and it's difficult for me to find pleasure in life. I think the few pleasures don't cancel the amount of pain.... I attempted suicide way back in 2001, at 21...I've wanted to die at 6 years old, because I saw how shitty life was that young... Basically, I think someone must score higher in sadistic traits to introduce human life into this planet.

I may be the only one ... I think I am a bad person but for some weird reason I hope this pandemic gets worse & completely destroys the economy. I feel happy when I see the virus spreading and No's increasing (I only follow the progress in my country India) .here the mortality rate is low 3% but the reaction to that is super hyperbolic to say the least.. Wish it was super high like 30% I would have loved it..... Suicide rate is not accurately reported in India but there r people ctb'ing in India & it will only increase as the social & economic stress of the pandemic takes its toll.

This pandemic still has yet to fizz on me at all. I'm enjoying quarantine and being away from people. I hate the idea of how this whole thing is hurting so many people. It's actually really heartbreaking in my opinion
