Suicide by cop or suicide by police: a suicide method in which a suicidial individual deliberalely behaves in a threatening manner, which intend to provoke a lethal response from a public safety or law enforcement officer. There are people who commit a crime with the specific intention of provoking a law enforcement response and there are people who already are contemplating suicide and decide that provoking the police into killing them is the best way to act on their desires.

It is possible that the police do not see the difference between a real gun and a toy gun in a long distance. When a man in Sweden asked a neighbor for help carrying a piece of furniture into his apartment, the neighbor saw a toy gun in this apartment. Later the same day, the neighbor called the police and reported this weapon, which lead to the police broke open the apartment door, but only to discover that the gun was a toy gun. 2018 in Stockholm, Sweden, 20-year old Eric Torell with Down syndrome was shot do death by the police when he was playing with his toy gun in the park outside his home.

Examples of suicide by police: In 2008, 15-year old Tyler Cassidy was shot and killed by three Victoria Police officers after he threatened them with three large knives and ordered them to shoot him. In 2015, the perpetrator of the October Trollhättan school in Sweden wrote a message to an online friend an hour before the attack where he writes that he is expected to be dead whithin one or two hours, that he hated himself and that "I hope these fucking cops aim straight because I really do not want to survive the commotion". In 2021, 19-year old Brandon Scott Hole was killed by police after opening fire on a FedEx facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, killing nine people.

It is easier for the police to kill you with a gun compared to shooting yourself because the police can shoot multible times until you are dead. And it seems like, all you need is a toy gun to die of suicide by cop - but do you dare?

If they don't kill you you'll be left with scars, lifelong disabilities and depending on what you did to provoke them you'll spend the rest of your day's in prison. Or they could apprehend you without shooting and then throw you in prison.

And it will most likely be notoriously painful. Cops typically have shit aim so they'll probably end up putting a few random shots in you before you manage to actually die.

Also not favourable if you don't want your name to eternally be out there in the media. Could cause problems for your family.

From my perspective, forcing others to kill you, simply by doing their job, is a selfish, cowardly way to die. If you're suicidal, you already know horrific mental anguish. Why would you put that on other humans?

Everyone who even thinks of death by cop listen. If you have to drown others to make yourself feel better. Are you really doing it for yourself? It's almost as bad as name dropping in a suicide note knowing it wasn't their fault. If you survive, they will be like "you did it because you had to" but we all know you didn't. You tell anyone here you tried to ctb by cop, we'll be sure to tell you that you've already made others try to commit suicide "the cop" "the family" "everyone on scene" and that you're no better for it. You might've even ruined the people trying to get help in your area. You might even get SS shut down again for it.
Tl;dr. If you're thinking of killing others alongside yourself, you're not one of us and you should never look to this site for help.

Yeah, I gotta admit I considered doing this a long time ago but now, I don't wanna get anybody in trouble because of my ctb.
I'll just do it on my own, somehow and leave lots of evidence behind so that they understand that no one had anything to do with my death!!

I thought about it. A lot of people here saying that it's selfish and we should think about the cops. And they are right to a degree, because cops are trained to handle these kinds of outcomes. They are probably trained on the whole subject of suicide by cops all together, they are trained to mentally and emotionally withstand the fact that they killed someone, because they are cops it's very likely they will have to kill someone early or later. This is kind of like when people say it's selfish to ctb in a hotel because the cleaning stuff will find your body, yes they will. But death is a normal part of life, a dead body is not a freak of nature to be hidden and never spoken of. In the end somebody will find the body one way or another be it in the hotel or in your own apartment. Old people dying of old age leave dead bodies all the time and they get discovered by people, it's a normal part of life. Plus when the old person that died in their own apartment and they didn't have any family at some point the police or/and the firemen will show up to investigate the apartment because of the smell of the dead body and they will find and remove the dead body, and they are trained to deal with finding dead bodies and even the bodies that have been dead for a few days. Yes it's still hard for them no doubt but they know what they are getting themselves into when they go into jobs like these and they are trained for it. All that being said another thought just popped up in my head, the cops are trained to shoot at the places on the body that won't be fatal/deadly, if they have the opportunity to just detain the person by shooting some bullets at the leg or something they might go first with none lethal shots before they will try to kill the person. There are some racist/sexist/homophobic cops that will probably try to kill the person immediately but there are some good people among cops too and they will most likely try to shoot in none lethal spots before shooting someone dead if they have to kill the person.

I think that this is one of the most disgusting, selfish, and immoral things to even consider.

Police officers are people too. The fact that there are some bad ones does not deny the humanity of the vast majority of them. This is something that they'll have to live with for the rest of their lives.

Not fond of methods that require the actions of others and can end up in prison instead of dying. Just pointless.

I laughed, but exactly this--I've been called "glow-in-the-dark white" by my friends. Plus being in Canada, it wouldn't happen. The cops are too pussy to shoot you unless you fire first.

I have had a gun pointed at me several times. I am glad I nothing to shoot them as there could be four dead.
I also know many cops. They may not be the most popular people, but they are people nonetheless. They do not need to kill you because you cannot.

Well I'm glad you think like that. They dont deserve to find your corpse than either right? Where is the line? Dont kill yourself then we dont wanna harm them. Noone wants to find a stinky ugly corpse. Are you okay with some police officer finding your corpse? Would it be traumatizing to them? How about your family? They okay to learn your dead but some police officer you dont know needs to be protected. Hm interesting. No different from the prolifers saying we just pass the pain on.
