Hi,
Let us look at the following hypothetical situation:
two people are in their late 60's and have both known that in old age they want to kill themselves and have been knowing this all their lives.
They have one child who is in their early 30's.
Is it acceptable if they kill themselves towards the child?

A child in their 30s is not a "kid" so yes.

Is the kid a hikikomori/NEET that lives in their basement or something? Disabled? Still dependent on them? Because in that case they should get him some N too :P

Otherwise, what's the problem? People in their 30's should have a good understanding of the issues of old age, deteriorating health and death.
And I think it's less mentally scarring to know that your parents have died peacefully, on their own terms than to watch them succumb to some horrible disease, dementia etc., to see them slowly die in pain. If that's what you mean.

To me, this scenario is only steps away from a typical doctor-assisted euthanasia scenario although both parents is a little out of the ordinary. I would hope the adult child is aware and cognizant that their parents are aging and declining, so it's not as if it should be a big surprise. Either way, they would still have to face their parents' mortality.

(side note but my phone keeps wanting to to capitalize the word "Euthanasia" as if it's a proper noun lol).

Well played.

I'd agree with the other answers here. The child should be mature enough to handle it, but the parents do need to talk to the child about it. Keeping it a secret would probably be traumatic irrespective of age.

If the "30 year old" son/daughter is incapable of surviving by themselves, (Either born physically/mentally disabled or the parents screwed up raising their offspring so bad that its the result) its going to be a hard choice.

Probably the only one would be the parents asking their son/daughter if they wish to join them and they accept. anything else and someone is going to be experiencing a lot of loss.

I would have thought would cause more distress. Someone told me to tell family someone else said would cause terribke distress as they cannot do anything to help. But different situation. I don't have children.

I don't know myself, since I don't have kids and am emotionally disconnected from everyone. My reasoning was based on being able to have time for a discussion and get closure, but yours seems equally applicable. Maybe I just don't get people.

Because they are the one who force life upon him, it cannot be anything but selfish, regardless if he is able to live by himself. Parents owe to take care of their childs not only because they love them, but as a mean to forgive or redeem themselves for what they done in their sexual narcissism. He may not suffer today, but he will tomorrow, everyone does as they get closer to their death. They can tell themselves anything, people in general want to leave as guilt free as they can.

I feel bad for the people who get kick out of the household by 18, I could never be evil enought or self centered to do this to my children, my responsabilities, but then again I won't have any in the first place as I believe in karma, just trying to do as much good as I can before I leave for the next world.

I have mixed feelings about this one.

• 30 is a grown adult. Most 30 year olds live on their own or at the very least have some sort of job. However, we don't know if this 30 year old is disabled.

• The parents may have not thought that once they reach old age they'll want to ctb.

• Most people lose both parents in their life time.

• But at the same time, the parents still choose to bring life into this world.

I think it's the parents right if the 30 year old isn't disabled but I do also think it would be best if there was some way to make it look like an accident.

Its a tough one, what health are the two 60 year olds in? are they in pain everyday and thats why they wanna end it?
Depends if the kid can look after themselves or not as well.

I could only answer yes or no if i had more details on the matter.
