Hello SaSu. I'm back, it would seem. I would have logged back on sooner but I've been rather depressed.

I hung myself as planned (partial suspension) a couple weeks ago, but could not lose consciousness. My head felt like it was going to explode, but I pushed through that. I got right to where I felt like I was about to black out, my senses dulled, but then I just stayed in that state.

I tried that same method two more times to the same effect.

I eventually attempted full suspension, hanging from a rafter in the garage. The same thing happened. I hung there, powered through the head-explodey feeling, but could not lose consciousness. I hung for over a minute until I could no longer bear the pain from the strain on my neck. I wrapped my legs around a nearby support beam and got enough slack on the rope to take it off. Had bruises around my neck for a while.

I've given up on suicide for now. At least until I can work up the courage to try a different method.

Thank you all for your support, my friends. At least for a while I'm here to support you all as much as I can.

Dear @DTA, sorry to hear about your ordeal. experts here have suggested with full suspension if done correctly you lose consciousness in 5-10 seconds if dont correctly, partial is hard, what do you think went wrong with FS.

I'm sorry your attempt didn't go as planned.

Full suspension is also my method of choice, and I'm one of those people who believes it should be very reliable and quick if done correctly. I'm very curious about what could have been the reason it didn't work for you.

Did you get drunk before the attempt? (You mentioned it in your goodbye post.)

Did you use the climbing rope you mentioned?

Did you use padding?

How did you position the knot?
(e.g., back of the neck, on the side, or at the front)

How did you position the rope? (e.g., below or above the Adam's apple)

What specific knot did you use for the noose?

How high was the support, and did your legs not touch the ground when you stepped off?

An odd question, this one: Did you experience anything weird or paranormal? (Just asking out of curiosity, since you also mentioned having a "life filled with the paranormal".)

Don't feel pressured to answer these if you don't want to. However, if you're willing to share more details, that could be a learning opportunity for all of us.

Look at the positive side of it! You didn't suffer any serious injuries. :)

In answer to your questions (in order):

I got drunk the first time only. Thought that might have affected it so I stayed sober after.

I used climbing rope that is about 3/4 inch diameter.

Tried various kinds of padding pressed against the carotid on both sides such as rolled up dress socks, pieces of plastic, and soap bars.

Tied a hangman's noose with 13 loops that was positioned at the back.

During the full-suspensionmy legs did not touch the ground; I kicked the stool away.

Did not experience anything paranormal, unless you want to count the fact that it failed. I have a long history of "miracles" that happen to prevent my dying or maiming, even documented at hospitals. Small possibility it's the same curse/blessing.

@AreWeWinning - I don't mind talking about it. I'm very jaded. Hopefully my information can help.

@tanshakti - It is true that you should lose consciousness after 10-15 seconds of pressure to the carotid. That's why a chokehold works and I have experienced it myself when I talked a man into strangling me.
I don't understand why I would reach the point of almost blacking out but then would just stay stuck there. Perhaps my body weight (165 lbs) did not put enough pressure on the padding.

On the bright side, I'm not brain damaged (I don't think) and I had a really good night prior to the attempts!

@ DTA thanks for sharing the details , did you get unconscious? did it get interrupted? do you think it was the noose knot that it didnt tighten experts here recommend slip or poachers knot instead of hangmans knot, they also mentioned if the knots are secured and you didn't get interrupted it should work for successful CTB. just trying to learn here sorry if peppering you with lot of questions.

It's fine.
It might have been the noose knot. It gets really tight though and doesn't come loose. That's why one uses basically the same knot for tying fishing lines and tying boats to a pier. As I see it it's just a slipknot that's less likely to come untied. But I could be wrong there.
And I didn't get interrupted. I waited till an opportune time and even tied the doors shut from the inside.
Now that you mention it I can see how a poacher's knot would be better.

Thank you DTA. From the knowledge i gathered here, looks like pressure applied on the Carotid artery by the knot might be the issue here. apparently a slip or poachers knot tightens with body weight as a noose knot.

Did you experience any unconsciousness in the first 5-20 seconds? that could be another sign. I will let other experts weigh in on here, I am just regurgitating what experts have posted here.

No, no unconsciousness. My hearing became very... weird. Like I had my head in a can and everything was really far away. And my vision started to fade (while I had my eyes open). I felt really light headed after that.
I began counting at a certain point because I know it should only take 10-15 seconds. During partial suspension I counted over two minutes. During full suspension I freed myself after a little over a minute because my neck hurt so much from supporting my body weight.

It seems that the universe don´t wants that you die. If you want to outwit your gardian angel, use a rope diameter of 1/2 inch or less and no padding.
